(My next novel is in the works, probably for July or August. The love interest is just a little octopus at first, but will take human form later.)
Global warming ushered in the Great Drift Era, but what followed was the arrival of an endless game. The world soon became a living hell, and people struggled to survive amid desperate conditions.
Then, one day, the world returned to five years before the Great Drift Era began. Reborn people began to awaken one after another, while groups of extreme, ruthless environmentalists appeared across the world. Prophecies of the apocalypse emerged, and the endless game quietly began merging with reality at an astonishing pace.
Ying Chuan was a recently laid-off office worker who had given up trying. After much deliberation, he decided to lie flat at home. His carefree life was blissful, though every now and then, a little surprise came along.
For example, when he went grocery shopping, the old lady had mutated into a fish, but her vegetables were even fresher.
Or take the neighbor, who had mutated into a clump of seaweed, yet still made delicious food.
And then there was...
Aside from the friend who had shown up uninvited, life was practically perfect.
But as the number of mutated creatures and endless-game instances continued to grow, Ying Chuan's once peaceful life was completely disrupted. A bunch of strange lunatics showed up at his home, begging him to save the world.
Ying Chuan was speechless. Making a retiree go back to work was a crime against nature, an invitation for divine punishment. Fine, he'd just treat it as exercise and a chance to stretch his limbs. Besides, he really did need to improve the food supply for the good friend at home. There was no one in the world kinder than him.
Yet at the same time, Ying Chuan came home with fresh food only to be pinned beneath the friend staying at his place. The friend's tentacles slowly wrapped around his limbs, and their expression was dazed, as though they'd eaten something they shouldn't have.
Ying Chuan figured the other might have accidentally eaten some of the mushrooms he'd left at home, and was having some kind of psychotic episode.
Then Ying Chuan saw his friend lean down. Their voice murmured in his ear:
"Baby, you smell so delicious."
PS: 1. A super-strong, slightly crazy, wooden-headed bottom x a sneaky, sinister god of a top who just wants to be his wife's accessory. Most of the time, he's a little octopus perched on his wife's head, sleeping.
2. No extreme top fans or bottom fans, please.
