The Ji family has four generations living under one roof. Everyone gets along, and even the younger generation is made up of talented young people full of promise.
Only the two children from the third branch of the family are different.
The eldest, Ji Nuanyin, was adopted from an orphanage at the age of five. She grew up ungrateful and uncaring, and people often predicted she would never repay the family's kindness. After graduating, she lived up to their expectations and didn't come home for three years.
The second child, Xu Zi, is their biological son, but he is stubborn and rebellious. Whenever the Ji family brings him up, everyone sighs and grits their teeth. The strange thing is, he listens to no one in the family except this sister who isn't related to him by blood.
Of everyone in the Ji family, Ji Nuanyin actually dislikes Xu Zi the most.
He is the product of her father's betrayal of her mother, a child whom the Ji family accepted unconditionally the moment he appeared. She hates how brazen he is, and how easily he can steal everyone's attention.
When Xu Zi ran after her calling her Sis, she always ignored him coldly.
When his father told them to ride to school together, she would rather get soaked in the rain or bake in the summer sun than share a car with him.
As Xu Zi gradually grew up, he began avoiding her, and Ji Nuanyin never heard him call her Sis again.
It was only as an adult that Ji Nuanyin slowly understood that she had hated Xu Zi because she was so jealous of him. He, too, was a victim.
That period happened to be when the youngest Ji was at his most rebellious. He was always out partying and never came home, and the whole family worried themselves sick over him.
Ji Dad was so furious with him that he ended up in the hospital. Ji Nuanyin couldn't hold back and stormed into Xu Zi's classroom, flipping his desk in front of the entire class.
She was the one who treated Xu Zi the worst in the family. It would have been understandable if he had hit her, but Ji Nuanyin was ready to fight him. Instead, her brother, the troublemaker who'd pick a fight with anyone, was unexpectedly calm.
