From the moment mortals rejected the immortals, a great calamity from beyond the heavens descended upon the world, affecting all three realms.
The immortals of the three realms wished to join forces against the calamity, but mortals believed that if the mortal realm could simply be severed and separated from the others, the calamity would end and peace would return.
Countless mortal wishes flowed together like a sea, and the few dissenting voices vanished in an instant.
The immortals grant every prayer.
The Heavenly Realm answered the mortals’ wishes and called upon the Heavenly Dao.
Several seals were laid down, and the calamity indeed receded.
But an unexpected turn of events nearly destroyed the souls of several immortals who had taken part in drawing the boundaries, and left the mortal realm in ruins.
Yet the separation was complete, and no immortal could undo it.
Unwilling to abandon them, the Heavenly Court sent some low-ranking young immortals to continue protecting the mortals. Out of compassion, the Buddhist sect erased the mortals’ painful memories of the calamity.
As for the few immortals who had nearly lost their souls...
After a thousand years of nurturing and more than ten lifetimes of reincarnation, their primordial spirits are finally about to awaken and reclaim their divine positions.
Only...
The Jade Emperor waved away the white mist and looked at the figure lying quietly in the celestial pool. His usually serene face showed a rare trace of anger.
“In only a few short days, my nephew has grown this thin.”
He turned to face the assembled immortals, his tone leaving no room for argument. “Find Xiaotian Quan at any cost, and bring back my nephew’s primordial spirit.”
The immortals lowered their heads.
“Yes.”
Attention!!!
#After watching Eight Immortals, I couldn't move on. I love this version of Yang Jian so much that I had to write this.
#I'm terrible at researching mythology. Everything here is my own headcanon and wild imagination! This is purely for my own enjoyment!
#There is an amnesia plot early on, so the characters may be OOC. I'll try to keep them closer to their animated portrayals later.
#I'm just writing for the fun of it and not considering anything else. If you don't like it, please don't come at me.
#There will be no romantic tension between the protagonists, just friendship.
Theme: May all be well and safe
