After arguing with his family, Jiang Jinyu runs away from home, only to unexpectedly present as an omega on a foreign street.
An omega's first heat comes on suddenly. In a daze, Jiang Jinyu ends up in bed with someone, and only realizes after waking that the person who slept with him is Yan Xiu, his sworn enemy from his school days.
Yan Xiu is an S-rank Alpha and the head of the Yan family of Kunjing, a marriage prospect countless omegas dream of.
Compared with Jiang Jinyu, who's broke after running away from home, they're worlds apart.
But Jiang Jinyu can't worry about any of that right now. He struggles to sit up straight and grits out an insult.

Yan Xiu puts on his hearing aids, then hands him a marriage agreement.
"Hello. I'll take responsibility for you. Let's get married."
Jiang Jinyu is about to keep cursing, when a BGM suddenly starts playing in his head: the famous erhu piece Moonlight on the Second Spring.
Jiang Jinyu's jaw drops, and he forgets what he was going to say.
Jiang Jinyu feels humiliated, so he storms out. But half a month later, his pheromones go out of control and he ends up in the hospital.
The shocking news: he needs Yan Xiu's pheromones.
Jiang Jinyu leaves the hospital in a sorry state and seeks Yan Xiu out again, saying he'll agree to a fake marriage so they can each get what they need.
Yan Xiu nods. "All right."
Jiang Jinyu instinctively opens his mouth to mock him, but another BGM starts playing in his head: the famous piano piece Wedding in a Dream.
Jiang Jinyu: ???
Jiang Jinyu thinks he must be going crazy.

After trying everything from seeing a psychologist to countless NCT scans and MRIs, Jiang Jinyu finally figures out the pattern behind the BGM.
He's not sick. When he makes physical contact with Yan Xiu, he can hear BGM that reveals Yan Xiu's thoughts and feelings.
When they attend a banquet together and successfully land a big deal, the BGM Jiang Jinyu hears is Chasing the Dream with a Child's Heart.
When Yan Xiu is reunited with his family and they are all enjoying a happy family gathering, the BGM Jiang Jinyu hears is We Are a Loving Family.
When Jiang Jinyu goes into heat and is forced to engage in some very harmonious activities of the birds and the bees with Yan Xiu, the BGM he hears is a song from a rocking toy car:
"What do you call your father's father? Your father's father is your grandpa."
Jiang Jinyu covers the back of his neck, red from being sucked on, and his eye twitches.
Wait, why is it a nursery rhyme?
That can't be right, can it?

Several months into their marriage, the Alpha's twice-yearly rut hits hard, and Yan Xiu is forcibly quarantined at a villa in the suburbs.
Two hours after Yan Xiu leaves, Jiang Jinyu goes straight to the Alpha on his own.
The door opens a crack. The Alpha shows a well-jointed hand, his voice already hoarse.
"Xiaoyu, go back. I haven't finished taking my suppressants."
Jiang Jinyu can't be bothered to speak. He reaches out and touches him.
A BGM sounds in his ear: "I just want to see you, I just want to see you..."
Jiang Jinyu snorts and orders someone to break down the villa's front door.
"I'm right here. Why do you need suppressants?"
"Yan Xiu, are you impotent or something?"

P.S. The hearing impairment is real and will not get better. The top has secretly loved the bottom for a long time and spoils him.
