"I don't know if I like my brother, and my brother doesn't know if I like him. I think I like him, but my brother thinks my love isn't the kind of love I think it is. I can't control any of that. I just like my brother."
I don't know how to end this, so I'm at a loss. I've got over ten thousand characters left to write, but I just can't get the ending out. I'm working on it bit by bit.
Blurb: From childhood to adulthood, the person Ning Jingcheng admired most was Han Fangchi.
Han Fangchi looked after Ning Jingcheng's meals, schedule, and studies.
When Ning Jingcheng was in middle school, he loved to goof off. He'd go out with his friends for late-night snacks and drinks, lose track of time, and come back after one in the morning. Before he even reached home, Han Fangchi would stop him on the road. "Ning Jingcheng, I'm not stopping you from going out with your friends at night, but didn't I tell you to be back by ten thirty at the latest?"
Han Fangchi furrowed his brows. "When other people's kids grow up, they don't like adults telling them what to do. If you're too strict, they'll run away from home. If Jingcheng doesn't like me looking after him this way, then I won't do it anymore."
"No, I want you to! I want you to look after me, Brother. If you don't, who will?"
And so Han Fangchi learned to look after Ning Jingcheng like an adult, from middle school through high school.
That was until Han Fangchi's father came back to take him away, separating Ning Jingcheng and Han Fangchi for eleven years.
Eleven years later, in the cold winter of Ninghai City, Han Fangchi walked into a small convenience store.
At last, Ning Jingcheng and his brother were reunited.
It was a good beginning. Their relationship was just as it had been, and even their close friends remarked, "You and your brother are unusually close. Most brothers who haven't seen each other in so many years would probably feel like strangers and have no idea what to talk about. You two are different."
Ning Jingcheng said, "We're close. We were together from elementary school through high school and never apart. Even after being separated for so long, we still have plenty to talk about. We never stopped thinking about each other."
They really were that close. Ning Jingcheng could freely enter Han Fangchi's private space and talk to his brother about personal matters.
When he was upset, Han Fangchi would hold him and comfort him. When Han Fangchi remembered something painful, Ning Jingcheng could let his brother rest his head on him, just like when they were children.
They had grown up together.
Later, Ning Jingcheng learned Han Fangchi's secret.
Han Fangchi was tormented by desire.
He knew it was an illness.
An illness he couldn't control.
During the time he couldn't see Ning Jingcheng, guilt and pain sank deep into his bones. His burning blood and tears turned into an unshakable obsession in his heart.
The night his mother died, boundless loneliness buried him like a blizzard in Finland. The sound of ice cracking in the freezing night was like his mind quietly breaking apart. At that moment, in all the vastness of the world, he had only Ning Jingcheng. He wanted Ning Jingcheng.
Ning Jingcheng was drunk when he asked, "Brother, how long has this been going on?"
Han Fangchi fell silent.
Ning Jingcheng called out, "Han Fangchi."
"Since I was nineteen. Until now."
Ning Jingcheng looked up. "Brother, can I?"
