More than a year after the war between humans and dragons ended, the Northern Court of Justice kept receiving long-winded, flamboyant letters from the dragon clan's leader, Youlong. They were copied from who-knew-where and, supposedly, overflowing with the signals of a courtship letter from a bluebird. For example, today's saccharine poem, transcribed below:
The dragons ask me, in the underground city, can there be rainbows?
Of course there can. Jiang Jiang once made one for me.
It was the third month after Jiang Jiang became a dragon official. Among tens of thousands of dragon eggs, she chose me at a glance: the most beautiful egg.
She took the utmost care with the temperature and humidity needed to hatch a dragon egg. She even sewed an egg pouch with her own hands, tucked me against her chest, nourished me with her blood, and eloped with me.
We slipped into the depths of the Jiuluo Sea and found a place to live among the enormous whale bones.
The deep sea was vast and misty, and countless ghosts at the bottom of the ocean wailed and trembled as one. Every day, she soothed little, weak me, her singing circling around me.
The immortal beasts roamed by, roaring ferociously, but when Jiang Jiang begged them, they turned back and gave me their blessings.
The bewitchingly beautiful sea-crystal women were a plague, bringing disaster wherever they went, with countless deaths on their hands. Jiang Jiang protected me with a blade. The sea-crystal women were defeated and retreated, willing to put away their claws and fangs.
The Jiuluo Sea should have been a lightless underwater prison for Jiang Jiang and me. Time had lost its meaning as a keeper of memories, yet I remember those one thousand and ninety-five wonderful days and nights when Jiang Jiang cared for me with perfect clarity.
When I finally hatched, the waves of the Jiuluo Sea surged and would not calm for a long time, just like my boundless love for Jiang Jiang, vast as the sea and impossible to still.
I opened my eyes and, in a daze, noticed the setting sun piercing through the deep sea. The five-colored clouds generously scattered their light, striking me, still innocent and covered in egg fluid.
Jiang Jiang feared the rainbow would burn my tender eyes. She anxiously called me by my baby name, Guanguan, coaxed me to close my eyes, and hurriedly cut away a strand of the rainbow, though it could only possibly hurt me.
Jiang Jiang, oh, Jiang Jiang, since you already love me so much, will you agree to marry me? It's fine if you don't say yes today. What would you like to eat, drink, or use? Tomorrow I'll send you a love letter along with it all!
Written on another day of loving the Court Judge
Your talented childhood friend, Guanguan
As expected of a bluebird letter whose declarations of love grew more passionate with every passing day, and whose delivery grew more extravagant each time. They say today's letter was carried here in relays by no fewer than eighty-one bluebirds. The spectacle alone discouraged half of the young talents in the city who admired Jiang Huang. The dragon clan's leader personally visited the other half and "persuaded them with virtue" to give up.
Faced with him brazenly bringing his forces to the city gates, the subordinates of the Court of Justice hesitated before speaking. "Court Judge, you'd... you'd better take a look."
Jiang Huang, Court Judge and author of The Dragon-Raising Guide, opened the bluebird letter after it had passed through all the proper channels and read it in one go. Just like before, it was a wildly written, arrogant, forceful, self-assured, ignorant, completely nonsensical "provocation letter." After a long while, she curled her lips into a smile and wrote two words in red ink: "Reviewed."
After thinking it over, she decided to send her childhood friend a few lines in reply, as an official receipt: "Your handwriting is very good, but do not write again. If you insert another piece of trash into an official report, the Court of Justice will be personally led by the Court Judge in a large-scale military expedition to intimidate and attack the dragon clan for the third time this year. The charge: 'Attempting to bribe the Court Judge with your charms to obtain an unfair advantage.'"
When the dragon clan's leader received the reply, he immediately raised a cup to share the tremendous good news with the young dragons who had accompanied him to fetch his bride. "I told you! How could my childhood sweetheart, who grew up with me, not love me? Tsk, tsk, she feels sorry for me because I'm going empty-handed, so she's sending weapons over here to fill out my dowry."
The ever-growing Jiang Huang VS Guanguan, her heartwarming childhood friend.
Theme: Nurture it with all your might, and the bitter vine will bear sweet fruit.
Hahaha, very interesting copywriting, it's the first time I've met a female protagonist in the nesting genre, and I like the character of the baby girl!! The male protagonist is also very good! Love reading sweet and refreshing articles! Madam, the writing is very good, I look forward to the follow-up plot ~ [Purple Sugar] kswl
I feel that the heroine's words and deeds are not like an orphan struggling to survive since childhood, but like a spoiled child.
