A Marriage of Convenience in the 1970s

When Yun Rongrong first met Fang Yinnian, she was the wealthy young lady of a family renowned for calligraphy and painting, while he was a poor boy suffering from a grave, incurable illness and on the brink of death.

Moved by compassion, the young lady paid for a doctor to pull him back from the jaws of death.

She even gave him a name: Yinnian, wishing him good health in the years to come.

When Yun Rongrong and Fang Yinnian met again, the young lady had become one of the Five Black Categories, while the poor boy had become the captain of the militia.

To repay her kindness, the poor boy agreed to a marriage of convenience.

Fang Yinnian thought married life would amount to taking care of one more person, until one day, they would part ways amicably.

Unfortunately, things did not go as planned.

"Fang Yinnian, I can't cook."

"Fang Yinnian, there's a mouse."

"Fang Yinnian..."

Fang Yinnian sighed. "I'm coming."

Everyone in the village said Yun Rongrong was lucky to have married the village's most promising young man.

Even his colleagues in the army said he had made a huge sacrifice by hiding his identity to carry out missions.

Only Fang Yinnian knew that meeting Yun Rongrong, whether ten years ago or ten years later, was his good fortune.

One morning, Yun Rongrong rubbed her aching waist. "Didn't we agree this was a marriage of convenience?"

Fang Yinnian laid a hand on her waist and expertly massaged it. "I was talking nonsense back then."

Yun Rongrong: "..."
