Lu Zhangchong ran his thumb over the corner of Lan Cheng's lips, neither gently nor roughly. His low voice was casual:
"All right."
The deal went smoothly beyond belief. Lu Zhangchong needed a respectable partner, while Lan Cheng craved the appearance of glamour.
Lan Cheng played his part flawlessly,
not knowing that the man's gaze had shifted from indifference to admiration, then to a dark, burning intensity.
At the family banquet, Lan Cheng made his entrance with his arm linked through Lu Zhangchong's. Everyone's faces turned livid. He sat in the real young master's seat of honor and smiled as he called him "big brother."
Under the table, his toes lightly brushed the man's trouser leg.
When he ran into his former fiance, Lan Cheng pressed even closer to Lu Zhangchong. "Honey, why didn't your son even say hello when he saw me? Remember to call me your stepdad from now on."
Everyone was watching Lan Cheng.
Watching him act high and mighty, throw his weight around, and provoke people without knowing his place.
Waiting to see him get what was coming to him.
After all, what kind of person was Lu Zhangchong?
Unfeeling and ruthless. No one who crossed him ever got away unscathed.
But the man beside Lan Cheng never said a word.
He didn't stop him or ask what was going on. He hardly even changed his expression.

Of course he wouldn't let go. His canary should have already given herself to him, heart and soul.
The bathroom door suddenly opened. Lan Cheng came out in a bathrobe, water still dripping from the ends of his hair. He lightly lifted his ex's chin with a fingertip. "Is that how you ask for something?"
His ex froze, sobered up completely.
Lu Zhangchong, still on the sofa, continued to smile tenderly.
But his gaze was nailed to the open collar of Lan Cheng's bathrobe, his eyes already a raging storm.
