[Mutual Healing]
Sunny heroine x gentle, restrained hero
On the first day after transmigrating, Cheng Yu fell into the water and was rescued by a young official.
She thanked heaven for giving her another chance to fight for her life.
She wanted to repay him for saving her, but he refused without a second thought.
Three years later, she successfully passed the examination to become a female official in the palace. Her superior gave her a task: investigate whether Yang Li was the surviving son of the Meng family from decades ago. If he was, her entire family would be in danger.
The task was harder than ascending to heaven.
On one side was her historical idol from several centuries in the future; on the other was the assignment from her superior. To achieve both goals, she decided to do the opposite of what was expected.
Yang Li was self-disciplined and restrained, followed the rules in everything he did, never acted conceited, and hated flatterers most of all.
Then one day, no matter what trivial thing he did, she would rush over and shower him with extravagant praise.
"I love the articles you write, Lord Yang!"
"I really like you as a person, too, Lord Yang!"
After passing the imperial examination, Yang Li was posted to a small county to manage flood control. There, he unexpectedly rescued a woman from the water.
The woman had not seen his face. She asked cautiously, "If I go to the capital, will I be able to see you again and repay you?"
He had always done things for peace of mind, not for external rewards. Without a second thought, he refused, and the woman left disappointed.
Three years later, he returned to the capital to report on his duties and met her again.
She looked at him with smiling eyes. "I really like you, Lord Yang!"
She stirred his heart, even though he knew she had no romantic feelings for him.
Reading guide: An imaginary Ming Dynasty setting, with lots of original worldbuilding (a lot!!). No real-life models. Romance takes up a large part of the story. Both leads have no past romantic partners.
Theme: No matter how rough the road gets, I can simply step over it like a shallow puddle!
