A Guide to Raising Nonhumans

Yu Chi is a researcher at the Extraterrestrial Research Institute. He wears a lab coat all year round, is cold and indifferent to others, and pulls plastic gloves over his long, pale fingers as he spends his days going back and forth between the lab bench and the basement.

The new graduate student tries to get close to him, but keeps hitting a wall. The other "old hands" at the institute either sneer, warn him, or coolly tell him:

"Yu Chi? He doesn't care about anything except whether his research results come through."

But their voices all carry a strange, unspoken undertone.

Yu Chi doesn't care what other people think.

Until he receives a newspaper clipping from five years ago in his mailbox.

[The Extraterrestrial Research Institute was completely destroyed by fire. All extraterrestrial life forms escaped. Most of the institute's researchers died, and a small number remain in critical condition. Only one researcher is missing: rising star Yu Chi remains unaccounted for.]

Yu Chi calmly burns the newspaper. The firelight softens his cool profile. He goes to work as usual, bringing lunch for a clingy, shameless colleague. Looking at the colleague's sharp teeth, he expertly draws a vial of his blood and says in an unhurried voice:

"Your teeth are getting a little long, puppy."

Reader's guide: A cool, captivating-all-who-see-him vibe, with inhuman eldritch elements. Yu Chi is cold and a little crazy, a black-haired, fair-skinned beauty. There are countless unrequited crushes. The main love interest has yet to be decided, and it may be a pick-your-favorite romance. The blurb has been screenshotted.
