In the Tang dynasty, demonic energy was thicker than human presence.
The imperial family and nobility could be plunged into ruin by the slightest mistake.
But for now, none of that had much to do with Fangzhou.
In Fangzhou, Yuan Qingtong assembled her first demon-hunting squad:
Li Chongrun handled the planning, Li Xianlan (Li Guo'er) was in charge, Li Chongjun kept watch, and Li Xianhui handled cleanup.
Yuan Qingtong herself took care of driving evil spirits from the wilderness and guiding supernatural creatures to enlightenment.
At the time, the demon-hunting squad's biggest worry was never the danger posed by mountain spirits, but that the monsters they captured with such effort would not fetch even a few taels of silver.
They had thought they could live this way for a long time, until a carriage from Luoyang stopped outside their mountain gate.
At first, they thought, "We'll just hunt demons somewhere else."
Only later did they learn that the demons of Luoyang left nothing behind but bones.
