[The King's Avatar] My Strength Is Unknown, and I Grow Stronger Against Stronger Opponents

The first match of the S11 regular season: reigning champions Xingxin host the new JiaShi, reborn through the Challenger League.

The fated showdown had countless Glory players eagerly waiting, but no one thought the new JiaShi could threaten Xingxin.

That is, until the new JiaShi's sixth player fought his way through the match and fired two Barrett sniper shots from the most obscure corners, taking out the half-health Little Cold Hands at the last possible moment.

That night, the forums erupted.

When reporters asked about it, Xia Lan, the player in question, had nothing to say.

Thanks for asking. I opened my eyes and found myself in the match booth.

I don't know how to play Glory. I have no game plan. The only reason I can win is the System's "unknown strength, stronger against the strong" buff.

As for Fang Rui, the player this match was supposedly modeled after, I don't know him either.

As one of the most representative players of the new generation, Xia Lan's inconsistency on the field has always drawn criticism.

[Only the strong are worth God Lan's attention. The rest of the time, he's sleepwalking.]

[Watch God Lan's match highlights and enjoy the ultimate ICU experience.]

[Strong teams have to target God Lan, or they'll die; weak teams can ignore him, because he'll take himself out.]

[So his strength really is unknown, and he really does get stronger against the strong.]

People said this about Xia Lan all season, but in Season 12, those claims were completely demolished.

So what if he played worse against weak teams than he did against strong ones? He still won, fair and square.

[Reading guide]

1. He relies on the buff early on, then on his own skill later. The ending follows an alternate timeline, with a focus on the new generation (Seventh Generation and later).

2. Two seasons and the second World Invitational Series. New JiaShi wins the S12 championship.

3. More details to come if I think of any.
