Qiu Chi was an unwanted abandoned baby, an orphan who grew up eating garbage and drinking rainwater. Everyone knew her, everyone avoided her, and everyone thought she would be better off dead, except for Aunt Zhang.

Aunt Zhang took her home and gave her warmth. When she discovered Qiu Chi's talent for painting, she devoted everything she had to nurturing it. Qiu Chi became a painting prodigy, featured by one major media outlet after another.

But the good times didn't last.

Aunt Zhang died in exactly the same way as someone in one of Qiu Chi's paintings. The police suspected her, the neighbors blamed her, and even Aunt Zhang's daughter told her to die. Faced with a tidal wave of malice, she could only end her life in a raging fire.

That day, Qiu Chi died.

The only one who survived was the mysterious comic artist Autumn.

Zhang Zhuo will always remember the day her mother brought Xiao Chi home. The rain was pouring.

Her only impression of this girl, two years older than her, was: So dirty, so smelly, so annoying.

From that day on, she had one more thing to do every day: hate Xiao Chi.

When Xiao Chi painted, she disrupted her. When Xiao Chi ate, she stole her food. When Xiao Chi bathed, she practiced diving. When Xiao Chi got a confession, she fumed all night.

After graduating from high school, she got into a fight with someone and came home covered in bruises. She knocked on Xiao Chi's door and asked, “Why am I the only one who can't?”

Xiao Chi said nothing. Xiao Chi closed the door. Xiao Chi killed her mother, then set herself on fire.

Only Zhang Zhuo knew that the fire had consumed more than their home.

It had also burned away the love she had nowhere to put.

When they met again, it was raining once more.

Zhang Zhuo knocked on the suspect's door. Her first love, risen from the dead, opened it and asked who she was.

She lowered her head with a bitter smile and showed her badge. “Zhang Zhuo, captain of the Criminal Investigation Team at the Lancheng Branch.” After ten years, I'm here to arrest you.

The day after Qiu Chi escaped, wanted posters covered every street and alley.

Zhang Zhuo swore she would never let her get away again.

And yet...

The day she saw Qiu Chi bleed herself dry to save her, her hatred vanished all at once. Only then did she understand:

Synopsis for the upcoming Glass Dog

Two weeks before the virus outbreak, Meng Xu was assigned to He Yi by her company.

She and He Yi had never gotten along. Two words were enough to set her off, and He Yi could always make her furious with the simplest, most casual remark.

The worst time, she had a high fever for three days.

After that, she kept her distance, and things stayed quiet for a long while.

So when she saw the announcement, she flew into a rage again, pinning He Yi against the wall and demanding that she end their partnership.

But He Yi took the opportunity to invade her mind and overpower her.

She opened a mental link, trying to figure out why Meng Xu hated her.

She soon saw images of them carrying out a mission together.

Meng Xu had suddenly fallen ill. She couldn't hold onto her gun, and her rapid, hot breaths fogged up the scope.

When she hesitated, unable to pull the trigger,

He Yi offered her an ice cube and told her to hold it in her mouth. But Meng Xu couldn't control her stiff fingers, and at that moment, she pulled the trigger.

The bullet struck their target in the shoulder. The mission failed, and they were hunted in turn.

With no other choice, He Yi forcibly entered Meng Xu's mental space and transmitted the plan.

As a Sentinel, Meng Xu had no choice but to obey, however unwilling she was. She followed He Yi's plan, and that was how they managed to escape.

But that kiss made her hopelessly addicted to He Yi.

The trouble was, only He Yi had a choice.

So Meng Xu could only keep her distance.

Pretend she didn't care, pretend she didn't like her, and hope that would calm the forbidden feelings inside her.

But she soon found that every time she took a step back, He Yi took a step forward, leaving her nowhere to run.

After enduring and suppressing her feelings for so long, she pushed He Yi away with all her strength.

“Have you seen enough?”

“Xu Xu, I...”

“I know. There's someone you love.”

That Dark Sentinel had died on the battlefield. She was the company's strongest weapon, refusing to surrender even at the cost of her life, until she was blown to pieces. He Yi had searched for years, but hadn't found a trace.

That person had died so suddenly that He Yi had never had the chance to erase her love for her.

And Meng Xu was only a defective weapon. How could she ever compete with someone who was dead?
