Pu Jingzhi remembered the first time she saw Dongtian. It was the depths of winter, on a cold, bleak afternoon.
By the canal, she sat on a bench in a black cashmere coat, a misty pink skirt fluttering in the wind.
Pu Jingzhi thought that was their first meeting. In truth, they had first met at a Western restaurant in Birmingham.
He was proposing to his girlfriend. Dongtian was outside the window with a friend, watching the romantic scene.
She suddenly turned and smiled casually, asking, "Will anyone ever love us like that?"
At the time, her friend was putting a slice of pizza in her mouth. The tomato burst, its tart juice flooding her taste buds.
She frowned and thought for a moment. "Maybe."
When I fade, month after month, year after year,
when you finally want to cherish me, regret will come too late.
