Jiang Yubai fell in love at first sight with an upperclassman when he started university, so he began a soft, timid pursuit of him (which in practice meant just watching him from afar).
From his first year to his second, he was full of energy. After attending his own classes, he would go sit in on computer science lectures, all just for a chance to see the person he liked.
He thought they wouldn't have anything to do with each other by the time he graduated. Then, on the first day of his second year, he accidentally ran into the upperclassman while moving dorm rooms and sprained his ankle.
He later learned that the upperclassman lived right upstairs.
The upperclassman was more responsible than he had imagined. He said that since Jiang Yubai had sprained his ankle, he would look after him until he recovered.
His excessive sense of responsibility brought them closer and closer, while Jiang Yubai's absentmindedness kept making him embarrass himself in front of his crush.
It always left Jiang Yubai mortified.
His feelings grew more and more obvious, but every time, he used his childhood friend as a shield. He was in love, and still too much of a coward to admit it.
A game set the chase in motion. Then an accident happened, and the one doing the chasing was no longer him, but the upperclassman.
"If you're going to take the game seriously, then I'll pursue you all over again."
"But I'm starting to regret pursuing you. I just want us to get together already."
Jiang Yubai thought that unrequited love could succeed after all.
