Love, hate, desire, obsession, malice: all emotions so intense they become twisted can give rise to a "Nightmare."
Wherever people gather, Nightmares appear. They can never be completely eradicated or destroyed.
Since ancient times, those whose profession is to exorcise Nightmares, ward off evil, and avert disaster have been known as exorcists.
I.
Tang Yin is an underpaid wage slave.
One day, his boss suddenly went off the deep end.
A domineering madman carried him off after beating up his boss, then dropped to one knee and demanded that Tang Yin make him his master.
Tang Yin politely declined. "I don’t have any unusual kinks. You’ve got the wrong person."
The madman was thrilled. "Baby, you’re the one. Come with me."
To stay alive, Tang Yin had no choice but to sign a contract. He was also saddled with a strange general store.
Boss Tang: I just want to make money, not fight monsters. I cherish life and believe in peace. Thanks.
Fellow exorcists: Before you preach peace, could you get your mad dog of an employee under control?!
II.
Wu Xunzhi has been alive for many years.
The thing about old monsters is that the more normal they look on the outside, the crazier they are within.
He needs a master to keep him in check, but he’s very picky.
Eventually, he found one, more or less.
At first, he thought his new master had problems in every possible way. He might as well keep him as a little pet to pass the time.
Later, he thought his master was perfect in every way. He was perfectly willing to be his master’s dog.
And so he went even more insane.
"Nine-Star General Store. We exorcise Nightmares, ward off evil, and avert disaster. We also sell handmade Nightmare-purifying goods... Welcome!"
