After being born into the interstellar era as a rare female Guide, Si You has no choice but to take on the role.
But she has never liked standing out, and prefers to do everything just well enough to pass. That goes for being a Guide, too. When her aptitude test at age eighteen rates her as a C-class Guide, the White Tower sends her to the front lines to purify the Sentinels there.
Guides raised inside the White Tower have always scorned this kind of work so close to sources of contamination. Si You, however, likes it. As she sees it, the job keeps her away from the White Tower and pays well. Apart from having to go down into contaminated zones with the Sentinels once a month, it is practically perfect.
Oh, and before coming here, she heard that the Sentinels in this region were all trouble. The Northern District had topped the Guides’ list of most hated war zones year after year, without ever losing its spot at the very top.
But after spending some time here, Si You decides you can’t believe everything you hear. The Sentinels here aren’t nearly as terrifying as people say!
The Sentinels of the Northern Theater have always been shunned by those in other theaters, because every last one of them is a maniac!!!
One moment they’ll be smiling at you, and the next they’ll be laughing as they kick you to the ground.
But the sources of contamination in the north are the worst, and the Federation needs these powerful “maniacs” to clear them out. So the authorities turn a blind eye to whatever trouble they cause elsewhere.
Recently, though, Sentinels in other theaters have noticed something strange about these Northern maniacs.
It seems they’ve suddenly started caring about their appearance?!!
The discovery shocks Sentinels from the other theaters, but the “maniacs” clearly don’t care what anyone thinks. Yesterday, one of them arrogantly knocked out several of someone’s teeth with a single punch. Today, he’s all dressed up and behaving himself as he follows a pretty little Guide with a rare head of black hair.
Reader’s note:
A wish-fulfillment story with a universally adored heroine. Logic has been thrown out the window, and there are plenty of original settings. There are lots of male supporting characters, and they all adore the heroine. But she loves herself most of all. Open ending, with no official male lead.
