Yu Qingyu is a handsome but not very clever young master. His favorite thing to do is bully his stepbrother, Xiao Ce.
Then one day, Yu Qingyu suddenly realizes he can no longer control his own body. That night, he dreams that this world is actually a book, and that he's a disposable character who keeps opposing the protagonist, Xiao Ce, and competing with him.
Yu Qingyu immediately decides to lie flat and stop getting involved.
But after his memories awaken, he can't help thinking... isn't something a little off about this protagonist? Every day, Xiao Ce is eager to serve him tea, rub his back and legs, and even climb into his bed to tell him bedtime stories?
And why does Yu Qingyu keep feeling a chill in his backside?
On his birthday, Xiao Ce asks him for a present: "I want to talk about some adult things with my older brother."
Yu Qingyu: "Sure. How much do you have in savings? Are you planning to have kids in the next five years? How much of your boss's work have you still not finished?"
Xiao Ce presses his lips together. "Ten digits. I plan to get married. Boss... still hasn't accepted my job application."
Yu Qingyu frowns, sensing that something isn't right.
He whips out a set of practice exams, occasionally has Xiao Ce do some math competition problems, and throws in a few business competition simulations now and then.
Yu Qingyu: "No sleeping until you finish!"
But Xiao Ce's gaze grows stranger and stranger. Sensing trouble, Yu Qingyu runs away in the middle of the night. Who would have thought that on his second night abroad, a pair of silver handcuffs would be locked around his wrists?
When he opens his eyes again, he sees Xiao Ce take a ring from his pocket. "We were born to be together."
Yu Qingyu: Sorry, but actually, I'm straight.
A week later, watching Xiao Ce's hand caress his waist, Yu Qingyu gives in with tears in his eyes. "I was wrong. I shouldn't have bullied you before."
Xiao Ce smiles faintly. "Wasn't that just our way of flirting?"
Yu Qingyu is close to tears. "I actually think I've been pretty good to you."
Xiao Ce says nothing. He gently pulls the chain taut, drawing Yu Qingyu closer. "Exactly. That's why I think I need to keep you locked by my side to feel at ease."
Yu Qingyu: ??
He's just a disposable character! Has this guy's personality gone off the rails?!
Only at the end of the story does Yu Qingyu discover that the plot he dreamed of at the beginning was actually from a fanfic based on a bootleg novel.
That's right! It wasn't even a novel from an official website!!!
Yu Qingyu has an epiphany:
So Xiao Ce doesn't turn evil later...
He was never good to begin with!!!!!
