[Football] I Didn't Want to Try So Hard

I transmigrated, arriving twenty years in the past.

Good news: I finally have a job instead of struggling through auditions! My French boss is level-headed and super nice!

Bad news: I'm a goalkeeper, but all I know how to do is sing, dance, and pander to fans!

Neither good nor bad news: I'm the third-choice goalkeeper. My cool Dutch coworker says this job is just about collecting a paycheck!

Then came the sudden bad news: The company's (?) first- and second-choice goalkeepers are both unreliable. My debonair French boss puts a hand on my shoulder and tells me I'm amazing, that he believes in me, and that I'm the company's (?) most indispensable player.

He asks if I'm willing to give it my all for him and for the company (?), and says he'll give me a raise.

Don't worry, friends. I'm not a gullible ten-year-old, and I'm definitely not going to be swayed by my boss. I'm just pretending to be moved by him and acting like his puppy. Relax, I have my own plans.

Once I've made a name for myself, I'll return to the stage and become a superstar (trust me) (turns sideways) (chest rises and falls) (tugs the corners of my mouth into a smile) (winks~)

Fifteen years later--

Thanks for asking. Being Arsene Charles Ernest Wenger's puppy is the best!!! (wagging my tail like crazy)

P.S.

1. The author is a fake football fan and doesn't understand tactics, sob. The protagonist will win every major career honor (but he'll also lose matches). This contains plenty of made-up stuff ( ) and trophy shuffling. Let me bow to you all first (thud!).

2. The Dutch coworker will become his boyfriend (?).

3. Club: Arsenal. National team: England.

4. I really love describing people's looks.

5. A fan of everyday-life stories.

I wrote fanfiction, so please cut me some slack (kneels).

Theme: Hard work pays off.
