Everyone at the steel mill knew that Wu Fangfang liked Jiang Hongjin.

That honest, dependable boy had stepped forward to help her out of a difficult situation. When she ran laps around the factory after dark to earn the chance to apprentice under someone, he followed behind to keep her safe. For Wu Fangfang, who had been raised by her mother alone since childhood, how could that not make her feel secure?

But it seemed he only thought of her as... a friend.

Wu Fangfang decided to bravely pursue love, never expecting to discover that this boy was hiding a shocking secret that the world could never accept...

She smiled through her tears and held out her hand to Jiang Hongjin. "Thank you for not lying to me. We'll still be good friends from now on."

Jiang Hongjin cried, too. He held her hand and nodded. "Fangfang, I should thank you, too. I'll remember you forever."

They said their goodbyes in the office building corridor, then headed down their separate paths.

Years later, Wu Fangfang returned to Shengcheng. She passed by the old house, long since demolished, and the Rongxing Steel Mill, then visited the newly built luxury shopping mall.

Across the sea of people, she gazed from afar at the dazzling Ying Jianhua on the display stage.
