Sorry to everyone who clicked on this. I've run out of inspiration, so I may abandon this story for half a year. I truly apologize.]
Good news has been spreading through the southern and northern cities lately.
Second Master Yu of South City and the eldest daughter of the Pei family from North City are entering a marriage alliance between wealthy families.
Everyone thinks they're a perfect match.
One protagonist is Yu Fu Ci, a lazy, carefree good-for-nothing young master.
The other is Pei Ru, an arrogant, domineering eldest daughter who lives off her parents.
When Pei Ru hears the news, she reluctantly flies home from abroad and begs her parents, only to get a beating in return.
So she tries every possible way to call off the engagement and makes a point of attending an obscure banquet where Yu Fu Ci will be.
In the crowd, she finds him, the only one who stands out.
Yu Fu Ci raises his glass and smiles as he toasts with someone. Pei Ru takes a few steps closer and accidentally hears him talking to his friend:
"You like Pei Ru?"
"Ha. I'd sooner like a dog."
He turns around and meets the woman's icy gaze. She stares at him expressionlessly and says, word by word:
"Is that so?"
"Of course."
--
Later, six months into their marriage, Yu Fu Ci somehow manages to upset Pei Ru and gets shut out of the bedroom. He clutches a pillow, looking pitiful.
Knock, knock.
She doesn't answer.
He lowers his eyes and pleads, looking miserable. "Honey, open the door! It's your husband."
As soon as he finishes, a thunderous shout comes from inside:
"Get lost!"

Theme: Don't let laziness hold back your future
The subject matter is very novel, but the writing is a bit literary, such as how to break off an engagement. Come on
