The world was in turmoil. The emperor had lost a loyal young general, while the Wen family's household had gained a lowborn male concubine.
Second Young Master Wen knew his elder brother was taking a concubine. He didn't know that the concubine was a man, or that he was an amnesiac simpleton.
The simpleton wasn't really stupid. He was just extremely obedient. He regarded Wen's elder brother as his husband and devoted himself to him completely. Yet in the middle of the night, he would sometimes murmur another person's childhood name in his sleep.
Ziqing.
It wasn't Wen's elder brother's childhood name, but the simpleton loved to call him that. He loved Ziqing, and he loved the elder brother when he was mistaken for "Ziqing."
Second Young Master Wen hated the male concubine his elder brother doted on. He hated the simpleton who, under the title of "concubine sister-in-law," lorded it over him at every turn.
Until the day it happened.
His elder brother vanished without a trace. As the second son of the Wen family, he had no choice but to take on the burden, managing the family business and caring for everyone in the household, including the simpleton who was terrified whenever thunder rumbled.
The simpleton wasn't really stupid. Whoever treated him kindly became "Ziqing."
With his elder brother gone, Second Young Master Wen became the simpleton's "Ziqing."
Second Young Master Wen hated the simpleton, but he liked seeing him smile, wholly and wholeheartedly, his eyes full of smiles meant just for him.
That smile didn't belong to him or his elder brother. It belonged to "Ziqing."
Second Young Master Wen was troubled, but someone else was even more so.
The "real Ziqing" on the imperial throne turned around to discover that the young general who had admired him for years had been missing for over half a month...
