[Original title: A Place to Rest]
There are no male characters apart from the heroine's older relatives and unnamed passersby.
-
After graduating from a top-tier university, 24-year-old Qin Yao returned to her hometown to take over her parents' pig farm. Her peaceful life was disrupted by the unexpected arrival of a tenant.
The tenant, Jin Zhaoning, was 30 and an internationally renowned fashion designer. After the media criticized her latest work, she came alone to the small town in search of inspiration.
Qin Yao was deeply drawn to this mysterious tenant, until the day she wasn't.
Jin Zhaoning got lost in the mountains and was caught in a sudden downpour. After she passed out from hypothermia, Qin Yao took her to the hospital. When she woke up, she was distant and cold toward the woman who had saved her life, but smiled indulgently at a stranger in her hospital room.
Qin Yao decided to give up.
But then Jin Zhaoning appeared in her life again.
She kept coming closer, teasing her again and again, and Qin Yao's hopes rose once more.
They ate together, held hands, kissed... Qin Yao gathered her courage, traveled a thousand miles, and prepared to confess her feelings.
But at the entrance to the press conference, security stopped Qin Yao. Jin Zhaoning didn't even look at her. She merely said, lightly, "I don't know her. Move along."
Later,
Jin Zhaoning returned to the small town and stood in front of Qin Yao's home. Qin Yao ignored her and brushed past, smiling warmly at the woman beside her. She threw Jin Zhaoning's words back at her:
"I don't know you. Move along."
She had always thought she had let go, thought she could stop loving her. So why did it feel as if a pair of hands were wringing her heart painfully tight?
She once again lost control and forced her way into Qin Yao's world, drawing close to her shamelessly and unwillingly, just as she had before.
One rainy night, drenched from head to toe, she held the other woman tight. Her usually cool voice trembled:
"Xiao Yao..."
"You can punish me however you want. Just love me one more time, okay?"
[Six-year age gap / Switch couple, with the younger woman leaning more submissive
Chasing-the-wife-to-the-crematorium / Some angst, no serious moral transgressions
Gentle, considerate pig-farm owner & cool, secretly flirtatious designer]
Reader's Guide:
1. This is a contemporary alternate universe. Details about ethnic minority villages, industry knowledge, and so on are fictionalized after consulting relevant sources. It's all based on imagination, so please don't scrutinize it for accuracy.
2. Qin Yao usually lives in the county town, not at the village pig farm. Workers handle the pig farming, so she generally doesn't need to do any of it and doesn't smell like pigs. Please don't read if that bothers you.
3. Qin Yao had a crush on a senior girl in college, but they never dated, and she no longer loves her.
4. Includes love-triangle drama, one chasing while the other runs, jealousy, and other melodramatic plotlines. The story takes place in the small town at the beginning and end, with urban settings in the middle.
