My Paper Doll Wife Came Out of My Phone Carrying a Baby

[Can you help them?]

A frail woman clutches a baby in the snow, shivering uncontrollably.

After finishing his work messages, Pei Ji, a workaholic who never takes a day off, suddenly sees a game ad pop up on his phone. The plot is painfully predictable: the heroine discovers her husband’s affair, gets thrown out, and wanders with her infant until she finds an abandoned house.

Pei Ji tosses his phone aside, thinking it had wasted half a minute of his precious time.

Perhaps it was the exhaustion of working 715 days out of 300 straight, perhaps the illustrations were too beautiful, or perhaps the heroine’s voice was too clear and sweet. Halfway through his work, Pei Ji stops and, as if possessed, opens the game again and taps confirm.

At first, he really is only playing to kill time. He barely bothers with the quests, wastes his overflowing stamina, develops the romance however he likes, and skips the story without even reading it.

But gradually, his assistant notices that President Pei, who works around the clock except when eating, drinking, or using the bathroom, is spending more and more time with his phone in hand. He often wears an inexplicable smile and even does all sorts of things to his phone that are impossible to watch. The image of their boss as a man of discipline who only loves work is finally shattered.

They thought President Pei was a breath of fresh air among CEOs. Who knew he’d end up becoming a hopeless romantic after all?

Pei Ji: My stamina’s almost full. Pause the meeting.

Assistant: ...What?

Pei Ji: Some tiny rich guy from City A dares to set his sights on A Ping? Who wrote this awful plot?

Assistant: ...Should I put this game company out of business?

Pei Ji: A Ping’s hands shouldn’t be doing this kind of rough work. Charge a hundred million into the game, now!

Assistant: ...Should I use company funds or your personal account?

Pei Ji: Everyone, meet my wife and child. From now on, call them Madam and Miss.

Assistant: ...The young lady doesn’t look much like you.
