After Wei Yaokun died of illness, a twist of fate sent her to the 1970s, where she became a sent-down youth who had fallen into the water and been rescued by an army officer home on leave to visit his family.
According to the original story, after jumping into the river, she would cling to her rescuer and insist on marrying into his military unit to avoid manual labor. Over the next ten years, she would spend his money, bear his children, and mistreat his mother, until she ruined his life and caused him to die young.
But Wei Yaokun had been a noblewoman of Chu Commandery from birth, famed throughout the land for her poetry and painting. Even the emperor had once vowed: If I could have a daughter of the Wei family, I would never love another.
So clinging to him was out of the question. Joining the army was out of the question. Even getting married was out of the question. As for avoiding manual labor... well, that might be possible.
Moral: Always reach upward and grow tall and strong.
