* The first volume focuses on the parents' generation (not entirely a romance between the parents, but it portrays Teochew families of that era). The second volume focuses on the younger generation (a coming-of-age ensemble, centered on the mother-daughter relationship, with a sweet romance too).

* Some locations are fictional. The town is too small to keep things private, so there are no real-life models!!! Please don't try to match the characters to real people.

* By a non-typical Teochew family, I mean one that hasn't fallen so far behind as to be beyond saving, not that there are no individual cases of stubbornness. Everyone in the family is growing, hurting one another and healing one another.
