When Vinnie left the Hill Mountains and opened a bakery in Pearl Town, all she wanted was to spend the rest of her life in peace in a world without magic.
But everything changed a little when a young bear beastman moved in next door.
*
Even by the time their son was born, Azariel still hadn't confessed his beastman identity to his wife.
But their child was young and often couldn't stop himself from turning into his true form. During those terrifying days, Azariel prayed he could keep it secret a little longer.
One day, Azariel was preparing a surprise for his wife with their son when she suddenly walked in.
Their son jumped in fright, and a pair of fluffy ears appeared on top of his head before he could control them. Panic-stricken, he wanted to cover them up, despair filling his heart.
But his wife got there first. She helped their son hide his ears and gently reminded him, "Be careful. You mustn't let anyone else see your ears, understand?"
Notes:
1. The male lead thinks he has a secret identity, but he was found out at their very first meeting.
2. The romance is the main focus. Most of the plot develops around the supporting characters. It's a slow burn that gets better as it goes.
3. The story is mostly about everyday life running a bakery in a small town, with a somewhat large ensemble cast.
4. The little one appears in the middle and later parts, and they go traveling later on.
Next up: Please add my new story, "After Becoming the Savior, the God Died [Western Fantasy]" to your reading list!
Blurb:
Revenge was what drove Cessie to become the Savior.
She never expected that along the road to revenge, she would also find a close friend who understood her.
Sadly, the road was too dangerous, and she lost her precious friend once again.
When everything had finally settled, she realized in a daze that something about this world seemed wrong.
"Lately, casting magic feels different from before..." Cessie murmured to herself.
"You've finally noticed..."
It was a voice she'd never heard before, speaking a language that seemed familiar. Somehow, she could understand what it meant.
Cessie spun around in shock and saw an unfamiliar woman with black hair.
They had never met, yet she felt as if she knew her.
Trying to identify that familiar feeling, Cessie spoke with a trembling voice. "K-Kephirst...?"
Kephirst smiled. "You recognized me... It's been a long time."
Cessie forced down her excitement and gripped her staff tightly. "What's going on?"
Kephirst leaned close to her ear. "So suspicious... That hurts. Don't be nervous. I just came to thank you."
"What do you mean?"
Kephirst snapped her fingers, gesturing for Cessie to look up. The reflection of the Divine Tree dissolved like a bubble, and the divine power that had blanketed the sky faded away. Everything changed before her eyes.
The old god had long been dead.
And the new god stood before the young Savior.
P.S. My take on Western Fantasy, with two female leads.
Please add my upcoming story, "Christmas Eve," to your reading list!
Blurb:
One Christmas Eve in a foreign country, Chu Xiyan treated the wounds of a Chinese American boy while a group of tall, imposing men of various ethnicities watched.
She was a rookie at the time, and in her nervousness, she hurt the boy, whose lower leg had been cut by glass. The wonder she had felt at first sight faded beneath the angry stares of his companions, but his face stayed in her mind, unforgettable for a long time.
Life abroad was far too difficult. After three years of struggle, Chu Xiyan finally decided to return home.
So, in the winter of her fourth year, she started working at the First Municipal Hospital in Jiaozhou, her hometown. Her first patient was a promising basketball player.
When she saw him during rounds, Chu Xiyan was astonished to realize he was the same person she'd met four years ago.
In a daze, she suddenly realized that today was Christmas, too.
*
"Dr. Chu, have we met somewhere before?" the man asked.
Chu Xiyan's heart skipped a beat. She feigned composure. "Have we? I don't remember."
"All right, maybe I'm mistaken... So, Dr. Chu, are you single?"
Chu Xiyan was surprised. She didn't know why he was asking.
When she didn't answer for a while, the man chuckled and apologized. "Sorry, that was a bit forward... My injury is pretty rare, and I have a lot of questions I'd like to ask you about it. I might need to talk to you fairly often. If you had a boyfriend, I wouldn't want him to get the wrong idea."
Chu Xiyan glanced at his medical chart. A severe tear of the anterior cruciate ligament was indeed a tricky problem, so it was only natural that he wanted to learn more about it.
So she replied, "I'm single. You can come to me anytime if you have questions."
But the moment she looked up and met the man's smiling, flirtatious eyes, Chu Xiyan felt that there might be more to this than it seemed.
It seemed he really did recognize her.

P.S. Light on medical detail, with a sports competition element.
Theme: Companionship is the best medicine in ordinary life.
Just because he is the clan leader, he must also be responsible for other clan members. It was obvious that you were willful and refused to return to the tribe. The situation was so serious. If you left even one day late, it would bring danger to other tribesmen. Didn't you see that someone was besieging the tribe in the next two days? If the transfer is delayed because of your willfulness, what will the other orcs do? There is no reason to be resentful. The one you should hate most is yourself. It was your own willfulness that killed your mother.
Xiaolong is also quite pitiful, hateful
