A Soft, Warm Mark

Lin Zhiyu is pretty, kind-tempered, has a good memory, and gets good grades. She seems like an almost perfect girl, but she has severe face blindness.

People ostracize her, her classmates ignore her, and the insult "eyes wide open but blind" follows her year after year. She never admits to her condition, only keeps trying again and again to memorize their faces.

The year she transfers schools as a senior, she is determined to keep her head down and be invisible at her new school. Little does she know she'll offend someone on the very first day.

In a strange, noisy classroom, a boy in a blue-and-white uniform casually shoves a stack of student ID cards into her hands. He raises his eyes slightly and says lazily, "Hey, could you do me a favor and hand these out?"

Lin Zhiyu looks at the stack of little blue booklets covered in photos and immediately panics. Her lips tremble. "Sorry, I can't do it."

Zhou Sinian: "?"

Time slips by, and the college entrance exams draw near.

Lin Zhiyu transfers schools again, and Zhou Sinian never sees her after that.

He thinks their paths have diverged for good, never imagining that they'd meet again in London three years later.

In an unfamiliar place, she runs into the person she knows best. Lin Zhiyu chooses to avoid him.

So when someone asks what their relationship is, she merely shakes her head as if she doesn't care. "He just looks a little familiar."

Later, Zhou Sinian gently lifts her chin from behind, forcing her to look at him.

His eyes narrow, and he grinds his back teeth without realizing it. His tongue circles his teeth as he asks with a half-smile, "He just looks familiar?"

Before Lin Zhiyu can answer, he mischievously pinches and rubs her chin, then gives in on his own. "Fine. As long as I don't look like a stranger."

But Lin Zhiyu can clearly feel that the more she tries to pull away, the tighter Zhou Sinian's grip gets. It hurts, and she struggles to call out, "Zhou Sinian."

"Yeah?"

"Could you let go first? It hurts."

Zhou Sinian freezes for a second, then can't help raising an eyebrow and chuckling. "Why are you acting so cute all of a sudden?"

Lin Zhiyu can't recognize him, so Zhou Sinian comes up with an idea for her.

Looking at the girl who had run away three years ago after making a single sound, his eyes dim a little. "Lin Zhiyu." His voice is hoarse. His gaze brushes over the blushing girl before him but doesn't linger. "If you really can't remember me, leave a mark on me."

He manages to force a smile, then leans down and asks in the gentlest voice, right by her ear, "Will you?"

Before he can finish speaking, Lin Zhiyu presses her rosy lips to his.

A rush of warmth, a soft touch.

She looks up at his stunned face and says with a smile, "There. A mark."

Zhou Sinian gets into a car accident and loses his memory.

Lying in his hospital bed, he watches the girl who comes every day to patiently peel apples for him. The familiar feeling that wells up leaves him dazed.

"Why do you keep coming here?" He reaches out but doesn't touch her.

As Lin Zhiyu peels the apple, her fingertips gently yet stubbornly brush the scar on his forehead. Smiling, she says, "Zhou Sinian, I left you a little mark. This time, I'm the one who knows you."

As soon as she finishes speaking, she leans down and kisses the incredibly sexy black mole on his neck, the mole that has always helped her recognize him.

One kiss, and she'll never forget.
