Rumor had it that the young master of the Fang family was going to enter an arranged marriage. Although he had the label of an illegitimate son, there still seemed to be plenty of people interested in him. For some reason, though, nothing had been settled.

Shen Lian didn't like gossip, and few people ever told it to her, until her name came up in one such rumor.

Shen Lian was stunned.

She did know the other person in the rumor, but they weren't close at all. Apart from a greeting on WeChat, they hadn't exchanged a single message. And she'd heard he was about to get engaged, so she had no idea who was making things up.

Shen Lian heard it and let it go, not taking it seriously. But after work that evening, the person at the center of the rumor suddenly stepped in front of her car in the underground parking garage.

Shen Lian slammed on the brakes and managed to stop, but still clipped him, knocking him to the ground. By the time she pushed open the car door, she was on the verge of blowing up. Before she could say a word, however, the man propped himself up with one arm. His ears were bright red, his eyes were red too, and he looked at her pitifully. “I'm sorry.”

Shen Lian: “...”

She took a deep breath. “It's fine. Are you all right?”

Fang Jing raised a hand. “My leg really hurts. Could you help me up?”

Shen Lian: “?”

Fang Jing had fallen for someone for the first time and had no idea how to pursue her. When the people around him found out who he liked, they gave him advice. “With a face like yours, just keep showing up in front of her. Don't make your pursuit too obvious. Take it slow, like boiling a frog in warm water. Once she starts to like you a little, confess. That's how I pursued your older sister.”

Fang Jing understood. He just had to seduce her subtly. He'd never done it before, but it didn't sound difficult.

He kept himself restrained and composed, his ears bright red, and showed up in front of Shen Lian for more than a month without batting an eye. Later, she came over with a gift box. “I heard you're getting engaged. Congratulations.”

Shen Lian got a boyfriend, and everyone who saw them said he always listened to her.

Only Shen Lian knew that Fang Jing was usually very obedient, like a well-behaved puppy, but only when he was in the mood to obey.

When he wasn't, he was still like a dog. He kissed her neck, lightly grazing it with his teeth, seeming both coaxing and threatening as he murmured in a husky voice, “Say you love me.”

When the dog bit her, Shen Lian thought he was absolutely infuriating. But she was the one who had lured him in, so she could only keep him for herself.

A story about a well-behaved yet fierce little wolf-dog who plans to pine in secret, accidentally makes his feelings known to everyone, and still doesn't realize it, continuing to play the part.
