Synopsis
[A self-reliant young palace maid x a broken young lord] [If you're interested, give it a star] [Coming in March, mwah]
It may seem like a story about two people, but it's really a story about a whole group of people.
At first, Yan Li thought that entering Fengqi Hall was nothing more than a life-or-death bargain with Weng Ting.
She clung to life; he longed for death. Through their bargain, they saved each other and found their salvation.
But deceit, greed for power, and oppression shattered their peaceful life, and became the reason Weng Ting had no choice but to get involved.
Only by becoming strong could he make a safe haven for the person he loved.
The fire he set himself inside Fengqi Hall erased his past with Yan Li and bought him a new life.
Thick black smoke billowed into the sky. Yan Li knew she would never leave the palace again.
Weng Ting asked if she regretted it. She merely smiled and sighed. “To risk everything by bargaining with a tiger is an honor.”
If you charge into battle, I will be your blade. If you enter the fray, I will be your shield.
Even if their last meeting were in a prison cell, Yan Li would still tell Weng Ting, “Weng Ting, I am willing to be your one and only wife.”
Water rises when it rains; when rain comes, a bamboo hat is worn.
Where water flows, even withered trees bloom again. Where rivers run dry, all life falls into silence.
Weng Ting stood on the far bank of the river and watched a small boat sail toward him over the rushing waters. Someone aboard held a bright lantern, and he knew that someone had come to take him home.
To the home he shared with Yan Li.

When Ning Huaizhen first met Song Zhiyan, he thought she couldn't lift a finger or take a step. He decided, never mind, he'd just humor her.
Song Zhiyan: I'm taking you back with me.
Ning Huaizhen: I'm a good person.
Song Zhiyan: I'm taking you.
Ning Huaizhen: What a headache.
Later, with bonfires burning all around, he proposed that he and Song Zhiyan become sworn brothers.
Song Zhiyan: Big Brother, you can't! I'm a woman! We can't be brothers, and we certainly can't become husband and wife!
Beneath the glittering lanterns, a gauzy veil slipped through his hands. He was glad it was her. Thank goodness it was her.
Ning Huaizhen's gaze was calm and gentle as moonlight. Just as Song Zhiyan was about to enter the hall, he suddenly called softly, “Mingtang.”
Song Zhiyan rolled her eyes and walked up to Ning Huaizhen, lifting her chin. “Young Lord Ning, you've overstepped. Only two kinds of people in this world are allowed to address me by my title: close imperial relatives, and..."
“And the other kind?”
“My consort. I don't think you have a chance of becoming the first, Young Lord Ning. If you don't want to be punished, how about considering the second?”
Ning Huaizhen smiled faintly and leaned down. “Is there a third kind of person?”
“What?”
“Ning Huaizhen of the Ning clan requests the hand of Princess Mingtang. Will you accept?”
I had never traveled beyond Chang'an. The one time I managed to sneak out, I met someone I would never forget for the rest of my life.
In the midst of political turmoil, everyone wanted to reach out and overturn this chaotic chessboard. You, meanwhile, were the strength that gave me the courage to fight.
Pear blossoms fluttered through the air, dusting her dark hair with what looked like melting snow. Song Zhiyan rose onto her toes and kissed Ning Huaizhen, then said through her tears, “Wait for me to come back.”
He knew she might not return.
Beneath the covered walkway, Song Zhiyan did not open the window. Ning Huaizhen clenched his fists, and in the end, all he said was, “Wait for me to come back.”
She knew he might not return.
“Once, whenever I faced wind and rain, I had to walk alone under my umbrella. Later, I never had to worry about getting caught in the rain when I went out, because I knew someone would surely come to meet me with an umbrella.”
In the Great Chengming Temple, a thousand eternal lamps were kept burning, guiding millions of soldiers through the cycle of rebirth.
Song Zhiyan left the temple. The sky was a dusky gray, misty rain veiled the distance, and a few snowflakes drifted down.
She turned for one last look. Beneath the curtains of rain, the person holding the umbrella smiled at her, his eyes full of joy.
