Please Don't Knock Me Out

At the end of the village in Shita, in Showo Town, Sheni City, lived a lunatic. No one knew where she came from, and no one could say exactly when she had appeared.

The villagers only knew that she was different every day.

Sometimes she crawled on the ground like an animal. Sometimes she sang from dawn until dawn. Sometimes she wrecked everything around her. Sometimes she muttered to herself all day long... Not one of the 365 days was ever the same.

Luckily, the villagers were honest and kind-hearted, and they put up with her day after day. Then one day, after cleaning herself up, the lunatic walked from the end of the village to its entrance.

A warm and hospitable old villager said, "Beautiful young lady, where are you from? Why not settle in our village? The young men of Shita Village are all top-notch."

Liang Lin: "No, no, you've got it wrong, sir. I live here. I just wanted to ask..."

The old villager: "Where do you live? I've never seen you before."

Liang Lin: "At the end of the village. My house has a 360-degree view of the sky."

The old villager leaped three feet in the air and raced from the village entrance to its far end like a spinning fire wheel, shouting all the way, "The lunatic's come out! Everyone, hide!"

Liang Lin: ???

Later, Liang Lin learned that she wasn't the first person to transmigrate into this body. It was stuffed with thousands upon thousands of souls.

She had become the main soul, while most of the others were asleep. But four souls were awake just like her, and they were always fighting her for control of the body.

Whenever an outside force knocked her unconscious, one of the other souls would take over.

At first, Liang Lin found it a huge headache. Then she discovered that the gloomy, sinister snake killed without blinking; the song-loving lady could hypnotize people; the destructive little girl fought like Nezha; and the nonstop-talking auntie could reform evildoers.

Liang Lin got it. Heaven hadn't put her in this body because it was blind. It had made her the one in charge.

Much later, Liang Lin pointed toward the far side of the sea and asked, "What's on the other side?"

The gloomy, sinister snake: "Delicious food."

The song-loving lady: "A garden."

The destructive little girl: "The Heavenly Court."

The nonstop-talking auntie: "Freedom."

Liang Lin: "Our enemies!"
