Foster-family trope | Younger man
When they first met, Meng Shunian bent down and patted the boy's hair. "Be good and call me big sister."
The boy coldly dodged her hand and ignored her completely.
"Interesting," Meng Shunian thought with a smile. But she wasn't about to argue with a child. On the wooden spiral staircase, she ignored his stubbornness and clasped his hand tightly. "From now on, you're my little brother. I'll show you around your new home."
Several years passed in the blink of an eye, and the boy of yesteryear had grown into a man.
One rainy night, Meng Shunian returned from outside, slightly tipsy, and happened to meet Jiang Yan in the hallway.
"Little brother, why are you home? Didn't you say you had training camp?"
Jiang Yan held back his emotions. "...I was waiting for you."
In the bedroom, the man in his partly unzipped black training uniform held Meng Shunian tight, resting his head against her as he breathed. In his heart, he murmured, "I'm not your little brother. I never was."
"Meng Shunian, I've loved you for so, so long."
