[Main story complete. 40% of the text is behind a paywall. Next up: "The Forever Heiress." Please add it to your reading list.]
"An unyielding, ever-rising wildflower of a heroine x a spirited young general x a gloomy, aloof beauty"
"My wife has two hearts, and I cannot bring myself to make a clean break."
Blurb:
"Before joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure have arisen, it is called equilibrium. When they arise and all are in due measure, it is called harmony... When equilibrium and harmony are attained, Heaven and Earth find their proper place, and all things are nurtured."
Li Ju has always held himself to the ideal of "equilibrium and harmony." All these years, he has never stepped out of line.
He believed he had learned to control his feelings well.
But, strangely, he hates his friend Pei Puyuan's fiancée. He hated her from the moment they first met.
He hates her hypocrisy, her cunning, and her willingness to do anything to achieve her goals.
And yet, he can't help but be drawn to her.
Even after Zhao Lingwen has become another man's wife,
he still wants to find a way to claim a place in her heart.
In the end, Li Ju resorted to the despicable methods he had once looked down on.
Sadly, this eminent gentleman of a noble family, as radiant as the sun and moon, should have risen to great heights and gained power and prestige.
Instead, he turned all his political scheming into ardent devotion,
calculating every move in hopes of becoming Zhao Lingwen's kept lover.

---------------Pre-read: "The Heiress and Her Dog"---------------
Lan Xingruo gazed at the girl before him.
Her eyes were gentle, with a hint of timidity.
Her name was Sui Jinyue.
She was the legitimate heiress of the Lan family, and should have enjoyed endless love and glory.
Lan Xingruo was the fake young master who had been switched at birth, unknowingly taking everything that should have been hers.
Lan Xingruo's heart was filled with deep guilt toward Sui Jinyue.
He was the one who owed her.
He was willing to make it all up to Sui Jinyue,
including... himself.
Notes:
[Everyone's darling] [Men get tortured] [All male characters are virgins]
The heiress has little sense of morality and is not a good person in the traditional sense.
Her gentleness is all an act.
The heiress is adored by everyone.
A battlefield of competing men.
No children.
Everything is according to the heiress's wishes.
She can do whatever she wants.

Theme: The day will come when we ride the wind and cleave the waves.
(After thinking about it, I decided to put this paragraph at the top. Although it may discourage new readers, I still want to say it.) It's finally finished! Strictly speaking, this book is my first novel that has been written completely to the ending. It was written by XP from the beginning. I didn't expect it to be so long. Thank you all for watching and supporting. A word about the ending. Pei Puyuan and Li Ju are both very much in love, and it is absolutely impossible for them to coexist peacefully. It is common for them to be jealous of each other. But they would all make concessions for Zhao Lingwen and not embarrass her. The triangle is the most stable. When I first started writing this story, I made an outline. When setting up the heroine Zhao Lingwen, I wrote in the outline: She is a tenacious weed. But how should we describe weeds that are not afraid of wind and rain? In order to cater to this setting, I gave her a miserable childhood, a super-heroic younger brother, and an irresponsible father. That's why she wanted to pretend to fall into the water to attract Pei Puyuan's attention. Only in this way will Li Ju's attention be drawn, and the subsequent development of the plot will be possible. When I later wrote about the plot related to Zhao Guangyu, I always fell into entanglement and self-questioning. I always get stuck because I keep asking myself. Do you really want to write this? Do you really want Zhao Lingwen to be abused? Is it really necessary to let Zhao Lingwen go through those painful experiences for the so-called plot development and fitting of the characters? In fact, it is completely unnecessary, which I ignored as the author. I am fully capable of giving my characters a happier and smoother life. But during this period, real life is too busy. It is the best I can do to find time to update every day. Due to various things, I couldn't make drastic changes to the plot I had already written. After all, it involves the outline of the plot behind it, so I can only do my best to complete it. But I also know that this setting makes the heroine look particularly miserable in the early stage, which makes everyone feel distressed. So I'm really sorry for letting everyone see such a miserable heroine. I also want to say sorry to Zhao Lingwen. You should have had a happy life, but you had to endure so much pain and torture because of the direction of the story. I hereby promise that in future writing, I will handle the fate of the characters more carefully, and will no longer easily use suffering to shape the heroine, nor will I add some avoidable harm to her. The subsequent novels should all contain heroines with high status and emotional status. (Even if your status is not that noble, you will definitely not be mistreated.) Regarding the character setting in the story, I have always insisted that I don't like to write the kind of mindless and vicious female supporting characters. I think every character should have its own soul, especially female characters. Their existence should not be just to enhance the heroine's aura. Each of them should be their own heroine. Whether it's Su Shiyang, Qian Wenyin, Xu Zhengqing or Zhao Guangyi. In my novels, the vicious villains are all male. For example, Zhao Guangyu, Zhao Tongzheng, etc... Having said so much, what I want to express most is my gratitude to everyone. I know my writing is not good, and the plot design may not be particularly innovative. Sometimes, I even feel that I am not writing well enough and want to give up. But every time I see everyone's comments and collections, the courage to persevere comes back. It is everyone's support that makes me believe that I can continue writing. After this extra chapter is finished, I will probably start a long story again in a while. I plan to read some books and movies to improve my writing skills and plot structure. During this period, I will write a few short stories to practice writing. Thank you all! See you in the next book.
It's not the heroine's fault in the first place, it's all the guy who seduced her.
Wow, oh, my husband is so good, I feel a little bit affectionate.
When the general disappeared and returned, his home was stolen 💔
Tsk, tsk, tsk, I really want to tell the world the truth.
I feel like Xiao Fu taught Xiao Zhao what love is, and Xiao Li wanted Xiao Zhao to teach him, but Xiao Li should go to Xiao Fu to teach him, Xiao Fu is the person who knows how to love people best.
Dadada, it's 2025, times are progressing, should it be okay to update ten chapters every day?
Yeah, the if line ended so suddenly
I want to watch the extra story that follows the main text, where everyone is together, hahaha, the story will be more coherent. Let's continue writing the main text. Let's move on to the main text. The ancient if line can only be read as another story, which is different from the character of the main text.
Oh my god! It would be great if this if line never ended
