Lin Yan is a graduate student in criminal psychology at a university in China. He helps his mentor, a police consultant, catch criminals, but is involved in a car accident along the way and dies despite attempts to save him.
When he wakes up, he discovers that he has been transported into the world of Detective Conan.
One day, his neighbor knocks on his door.
"Hello, I'm Okiya Subaru, a graduate student in engineering at Toto University. I look forward to getting along with you!"
Through the half-open door, Lin Yan sees his neighbor wearing narrow-rimmed glasses. They do nothing to hide his bright eyes. He draws in his chin slightly, the corners of his mouth curved in a smile that may or may not be genuine.
