Blurb:
Liang Shu, a veteran at playing the overpowered protagonist, is an outstanding employee of the Space-Time Administration, with a track record to prove it.
As usual, he set off for his next world to complete a mission, but an accident occurred. In the end, he landed in the world safe and sound.
This time, it was a cultivation world. The original host had been picked up by the Sect Master of the Qianhe Sect as a child. With poor talent, he had always been a nobody, until one day a new junior brother falsely accused him. He went from being a complete unknown to the sect's most hated person, and eventually died during a trial.
After reading the plot, Liang Shu went through the motions with practiced ease: System, what's the mission?
The System was badly glitched because of the accident: ...become... with... unleash your charm... go from the most hated to... and reach the pinnacle of life.
Liang Shu automatically ignored the beginning. His eyes lit up. "Reach the pinnacle of life? I'm good at that."
Step one: Find a fortuitous opportunity and unlock his talent.
Step two: Explore secret realms and summon an old master.
Step three: Make lots of friends and recruit underlings.
Step four: Find a master, learn skills, and face-slap his way up.
Step five: Reach the pinnacle of life!
After doing all that, Liang Shu was puzzled. Why hadn't the mission been marked complete?
Even stranger...
Why did the obedient underling he'd recruited always stay glued to his side, watching him?
Why did his longtime best friend always ask him out late at night?
Why had his aloof, powerful master, a cultivator of the Ruthless Path, suffered a shattered Dao heart before ascending?
One day, the System finally came back online and explained: "Dear, this time it's a harem-protagonist script~"
Liang Shu, clutching his aching waist in bed with his face bright red, gritted his teeth. "Could you have shown up any later?"
The less serious blurb:
Liang Shu came across bullying in the cultivation world during a trip to a secret realm. The System flickered back to life and weakly rasped, "Save him..."
His eyes lit up. He got it: a fortuitous opportunity!
Liang Shu immediately descended from the sky, fighting ten opponents at once, and successfully rescued the poor little guy.
But the poor little guy slapped his hand away and said darkly, "Don't pretend to be kind. I won't fall for it."
Liang Shu: ?
He won't fall for it? I don't believe that.
Later, the poor little guy followed Liang Shu everywhere, calling him "Brother Liang" and acting very obedient. Everyone in the cultivation world knew Liang Shu had a very loyal underling.
But when Liang Shu wasn't looking, the poor little guy cut down anyone who tried to get close to him or hurt him.
Wait, does Brother Liang know what you're like behind his back, kid?
After leveling up all the way, Liang Shu finally entered a major sect as an outer disciple. Among the newcomers was a young man whose strength was on par with his.
Overpowered-protagonist Liang Shu: "I'm not letting that slide."
So the two began a fierce rivalry, becoming famous as enemies throughout the sect.
During a team competition, when they had to choose their teammates, the System flickered back to life again: "Choose him..."
Liang Shu's eyes lit up again. He got it: a cheat!
Later, his rival stopped going against him at every turn and instead stepped up whenever someone insulted Liang Shu.
The two went from enemies to best friends.
But when Liang Shu made his nth best friend, his rival couldn't take it anymore. He pinned Liang Shu to the bed, eyes red, and said like a wife abandoned by a faithless husband, "I don't want to be your friend!"
Liang Shu finally advanced from outer disciple to inner disciple, and it was time to choose a master.
He had heard that the sect had an Immortal Venerable, a once-in-a-century genius with extraordinary talent who was about to ascend.
The System flickered back to life yet again: "Become his disciple..."
Liang Shu's eyes lit up for the third time. He got it: a golden finger!
So Liang Shu eagerly went to become his disciple.
But the Immortal Venerable glanced at him indifferently and refused outright. "I don't take disciples."
Liang Shu wouldn't give up. He made three visits to the thatched cottage.
Annoyed by Liang Shu's persistence, the Immortal Venerable gave him a blunt answer. "With talent like yours, you're not fit to be my disciple."
Later, Liang Shu finally became the Immortal Venerable's disciple as he'd hoped. He was very obedient and never caused his master trouble.
But the nth time Liang Shu got hurt, his master descended from the sky, scooped him up, and said with barely restrained emotion, "You're my disciple. Why won't you let yourself rely on me?"
