Li Pu is a 996 wage slave with no grand ambitions. When he’s off work, he likes scrolling through short videos and reading novels, losing himself in fast-food entertainment.
As novel recommendation videos take off, whenever he sees “I was reborn,” he listens with great interest while angrily calling the plot out in the comments for being so absurd that not a single character is normal, venting the stress and resentment he’s built up at work.
One day, he opens his eyes and finds himself waking up in an antique-style bed.
A ridiculously handsome man looks at him with disgust and says:
“If I didn’t need your heart to treat Mianmian, do you think I’d give you the time of day?”
Li Pu realizes, oh no, he seems to have entered one of those angsty novels where everyone is an idiot, and he’s the one being abused.
This plot couldn’t have been written by anyone who wasn’t seriously messed up.
The problem is, if he remembers right, the heroine is the one who gets abused in this story. But he’s a man!
Zheng Chang is a completely unknown author whose writing is so unpopular even his mother wouldn’t recognize it. To cater to the market and grab readers’ attention, he writes an utterly outrageous, morality-defying angsty novel. Amid the readers’ abuse, the short story does indeed get some attention.
Just as he’s about to throw his conscience to the dogs and haul in the money by the sackful, he opens his eyes and finds himself transformed into the tea-drinking villainous junior sister in his own story.
If the protagonist suffers from beginning to end, then the junior sister gets to enjoy herself at first, only to suffer twice as much by the end.
Most importantly, not a single person in his story is normal.
One day, the two of them accidentally reveal each other’s identities.
Li Pu: So you’re the one who started this. Have the guts to come over here? (smiles)
Zheng Chang swallows, regretting everything: Go easy on me. Please don’t hit my face.
