At this year's six-school league, the most famous competitor isn't the top student from First Military Academy. It's Jiang Ling, a frail cultivator of exotic plants from the notorious second-worst military academy, famous for giving up.
In the opening individual survival event, she uses an ability that means she never needs to eat or drink to outlast every other competitor.
Audience: This is the first time we've seen this kind of person take first place... But there's no way she'll last through the 1v1 challenge!
Who knew this competitor would have superb physical skills and be able to absorb sunlight and moonlight to replenish her energy, like some kind of perpetual motion machine that never stops.
Audience: Don't get cocky. Just wait for the upcoming exotic beast contest. Everyone knows exotic beasts can only be tamed with special abilities. Let's see how she'll handle the beasts with an ability that can't fight!
But then she uses another ability with tremendous destructive power on the field, blasting away the exotic beasts and even the arena.
Audience: How is she a legendary dual-ability user?! We've already admitted she's amazing, but... no, never mind. We already said it, so surely she'll lose at least one round in the team event.
Jiang Ling: Actually, I don't have two abilities. I have several.
When it comes to the team event, the usually lackadaisical second-worst military academy inexplicably becomes ferociously competitive. Yet every student keeps shouting, "We're doing this to escape that devil, Jiang Ling!"
In the end, with Jiang Ling leading them, the second-worst military academy unsurprisingly takes first place.
Audience: ...That stings, but whatever. Let's cheer!
