Chi Zhan has a pretty bad reputation at school.
It all started when someone spread a rumor right after he enrolled that he was a pretty boy kept by an old man.
Some people didn't believe it, but the moment they saw his excessively gorgeous, alluring face, they became completely convinced.
With a reputation like that, it was no surprise that Chi Zhan wasn't welcome in his dorm. Three of his roommates isolated him, openly or otherwise. There was also Li Huaifeng, who rarely stayed in the dorm.
Li Huaifeng came from a well-off family and was a rich second-generation heir.
He wasn't as childish as the other roommates, but he still gave Chi Zhan no friendly looks. The one time he came back to stay in the dorm, he even cornered Chi Zhan against a wall and warned him coldly, "I'm straight. Watch how you act around me."
Chi Zhan: ...
Chi Zhan thought Li Huaifeng was no different from everyone else, until someone humiliated him to his face and he returned to the dorm, unable to stop himself from crying under the covers.
That day, Li Huaifeng approached with an impassive face, pulled aside the curtain by Chi Zhan's bed, and drew him into his arms to comfort him. He even used his slightly calloused hands to wipe away Chi Zhan's tears, clumsily.
Chi Zhan sobbed in his arms for a while before looking up, eyes red and swimming with tears. "Didn't you say you were straight?"

A classic "falling for it after all" romance / Short story / I hope none of us ever become the kind of person who judges someone's moral character based on appearances alone.
Theme: If you see me in form, or seek me in sound, you are walking a misguided path and will never see the Tathagata.
