The Brocade-Clad Journey

He still remembers what she looked like the first time he saw her, sixteen years ago.

Her parents had both died, and he gave up the career he had devoted himself to climbing the ranks in to become her steward.

He managed her household and found her the husband best suited to her in all the world.

She would live according to his plans, forever as happy as a child.

But when did the relationship between them begin to change?

She wants to marry him? How could that be?!

She is the child he raised with his own hands!

How can he put an end to her wilfulness?

He can only find himself a wife.

She gets engaged, he gets married, and the matter is settled.

Qianchu, we can never break through the barriers of convention.

I will always protect you, as your uncle, even as your father and mother,

but I can never be your husband.
