Sister-in-Law, Open Up! It's Your Husband's Brother.

Meng He was the least favored consort in the imperial harem.

Her looks were merely pretty, her disposition bland, and the emperor disliked her.

Meng He didn't care.

That is, until someone framed her and she became pregnant.

When the emperor fell gravely ill, the empress stripped Meng He of her title as consort, severed her ties to the royal family, and had her tonsured in the Buddhist hall to pray for the emperor.

The emperor's indifference, along with the other women in the harem's schemes and bullying, made her clench her fingers.

.

Boldly, Meng He stumbled into a strong man's arms, her body soft, her waist supple, and her cheeks flushed with desire.

She thought that night had been a transaction, and that Chu Wangshu was a perfect gentleman who would keep his promise.

She never expected things to go wrong.

Even when she attended to the emperor during his illness, a large hand would brush over her calf through the bed curtains, neither hard nor gentle, leaving her unable to sleep night after night.

Not long after, the emperor recovered and even planned to reinstate Meng He as a noble consort.

Meng He thought she had finally found the peaceful life she had hoped for.

That night, Chu Wangshu clasped Meng He's waist tightly and stared into her tearful eyes, asking again and again, "Between me and my imperial brother, whom do you love more?"

.

When the emperor died, everyone trembled, believing that Chu Wangshu would take the throne.

Yet it was the least favored Meng He who became empress dowager, while her son became emperor.

But less than a year after the young emperor's enthronement, rumors spread: the Qingning Palace was overrun with scandal.

The empress dowager had remarried the regent.

Everyone shook their heads. No wonder she had become empress dowager, having brought such disgrace upon the imperial harem.

At that moment, Meng He looked panicked and heartbroken. "So you are a shameless liar who breaks his word! My son and I don't want your throne. Let us go!"

Chu Wangshu's expression was grave. He gripped the woman's pale wrist and pressed the jade seal into her resisting hand.

"This subject's reply to the empress dowager is: no chance."
