Rumor has it that Sheng Xingchen, the handsome, aloof, and refined student at S University's medical school, is impossible to pursue. Many people have confessed to him and gone away disappointed, receiving only a perfunctory reply that never reaches his eyes: "Sorry, my family is strict. They won't allow it."

Even after starting work, Dr. Sheng of the neurosurgery department at S University's affiliated hospital continues to effortlessly attract the affection of eligible people at the hospital. They openly ask hospital leaders and department heads to set them up, and privately try to make contact, but they can never get Dr. Sheng's personal social media details. One day, the department team has a small private gathering. A young colleague who has admired Dr. Sheng for a long time hears that he declined the invitation and comes to find out why, hoping to try inviting him again and get closer during the gathering. But Dr. Sheng raises a hand to his forehead, inadvertently revealing his wedding ring, and answers as smoothly as ever: "Sorry, my family is strict. They won't allow it."

Sheng Xingchen objects. "I'm not." Then his eyes stick right back to Lu Chiyu, and he opens his arms for a hug. Lu Chiyu catches him and holds him securely, soothing him. "I know you're not." He thinks, You don't have to do anything to attract people. If you did, who knows what would happen?

The composed, aloof Lu Chiyu is a little insecure. One day, he goes straight to the department to pick Sheng Xingchen up after work. Sheng Xingchen isn't finished yet, so Lu Chiyu waits in the doctors' office. His colleagues look puzzled, but none of them dares ask. When Sheng Xingchen finishes and sees Lu Chiyu there, he quietly washes his hands, changes, and leaves with him. Finally, one colleague musters the courage to ask who he is. Sheng Xingchen answers, "...He's family."

Lu Chiyu smiles and says nothing.

After they leave, the colleagues gather together.

"I've never seen Dr. Sheng look at anyone like that."

"He's usually so cold. The only people he ever gives a second glance are probably his patients."

Sheng Xingchen's face turns a little red. He says something has come up in the department and gets up to leave. Lu Chiyu picks up their coats and follows, briefly saying goodbye to their friend. In the parking garage, Lu Chiyu pins him in a corner and kisses his ear, then asks, "Am I cold?"

Sheng Xingchen practically hangs off him. "How could you be?"

Satisfied with the answer, Lu Chiyu rewards him with a kiss.

Sheng Xingchen pushes him lightly, his voice quiet and expectant. "Can we go to the car? Someone might see us."
