The Emperor's Decree

[Mutual scheming, lovers who are always at odds]

In the twenty-sixth year of the Yuanhua era of the Li Dynasty, Princess Duanyang Qiao Yuning led her troops into battle. When she saw Cheng Wei approaching at the head of the Subei Army, she lost herself for a brief moment.

Once, they had shared hardships and a bed. Now, in the eyes of the world, they were sworn enemies.

Later, Qiao Yuning received an imperial decree from the new emperor: a cup of poisoned wine.

When she opened her eyes again, she saw Cheng Wei as a young man. The warmth beneath her palm told her unmistakably that it was all real.

She had returned to the age of seventeen.

She was still the powerless Princess Duanyang, and Cheng Wei had yet to become the general leading the Subei Army.

While Cheng Wei's wings were still unformed, Qiao Yuning decided to strike first, or perhaps...

use him.

Getting close to Qiao Yuning was the first step in Cheng Wei's plan.

It took little effort for him to earn her trust and become the person closest to her.

Getting rid of Qiao Yuning was the second step in Cheng Wei's plan.

The fireworks filling the sky were the grand farewell the people gave Qiao Yuning. Watching the flower-smiling girl beneath them, he stood frozen, his knuckles stiff and unable to move.

His subordinates, concealed among the common folk, waited in vain for his order. When the fireworks ended, they had no choice but to leave.

He tested her many times, but Qiao Yuning had no such intentions toward him.

It seemed she was more interested in getting rid of him?

Cheng Wei ran his thumb over the hilt of his sword. His voice was as soft as a sigh. "Then let's wait and see who gets what they want first."
