*Main synopsis
When Zhang Yunqi learns that he is fated to face a deadly tribulation at twenty-five, and that failure means eternal damnation with no chance of reincarnation, all he can do is cry, "What a lousy fate I've got!"
To stay alive, he breaks his rule of calculating fortunes for others but never for himself. The result nearly lands him in the underworld, but he does find one crucial clue: the white figure who seems connected to his previous life and appears in his dreams year after year, but whose face he can never make out, is Bai Ze, king of all beasts.
An ancient divine beast said to turn misfortune into good fortune and understand the nature of all things. Isn't he the perfect cheat code for surviving a tribulation?
Without even stopping to figure out what their relationship in their previous life was, Zhang Yunqi grabs a blood-contract talisman and heads straight to Bai Ze, determined to form a blood pact with him so the divine beast can help him through his tribulation.
Who could have guessed that the moment he saw Bai Ze, he'd be so smitten he forgot his manners?
Bai Ze has a face as handsome as carved jade and eyes as bright as stars... He's just that gorgeous!
And on top of that, his skin practically glows. Looking at him, Zhang Yunqi feels like every part of him has gone "straight" this lifetime.
Unfortunately, the gorgeous divine beast, who seems to be connected to his previous life, has lost his memory. Not only does he treat Zhang Yunqi like a complete stranger who showed up uninvited, he even tries to drive him away.
Zhang Yunqi thinks: There's no way I'm leaving. You've lost your memory? No problem. I'll help you remember, whatever it takes.
But nobody told him this divine beast could be even more seductive than a fox spirit!
Since he can't win in a fight or an argument, Zhang Yunqi can only swallow his frustration as the other man flirts with him until sparks fly. He says: "Lord Bai Ze, quit flirting. Keep it up and this fire is going to catch!"
*Bonus scene
One sunny morning, Zhang Yunqi points to the warding bell around his ankle and says to Bai Ze, "Do you know when the bell on my foot rings?"
Bai Ze: "When?"
Zhang Yunqi: "When there are demons or monsters nearby."
Bai Ze: "Is that so? I think it might ring in another situation too, and sound very pleasant."
Zhang Yunqi: "What... Wait, no, you... Why are you lifting my leg... Don't pull down my pants... It's broad daylight! What kind of divine beast are you? You're just an animal!"
