#Knight vs. Monster
When Isel was seven, news reached the Holy City that a Redblood Aberration had been born.
Aberrations were humanity's greatest threat. Redblood Aberrations, in particular, existed only in legends, and no one had ever seen one.
"If you don't wield a sword, you'll die."
Driven by the fear that had settled in his heart over the years, young Isel joined the Holy City Knights, vowing to slay an Aberration with his own hands.
At twenty, thanks to his exceptional talent, extraordinary diligence, and a bloodline he could not discuss publicly, he became the youngest knight commander in the order.
That same year, he successfully slew the Redblood Aberration, but suffered grievous injuries and was left with little time to live.
.
When Misha opened her eyes, her body had already walked the world for many years, though her consciousness had only begun to awaken little by little long afterward.
A strange knight entered her lair.
That was the first time Isel saw a Redblood Aberration.
The young knight in black armor sat astride his horse, halted in the distance, his spear tip resting on the ground, its point razor-sharp. Under ordinary circumstances, the people of the Holy City would have mistaken him for a demon.
But now his helmet had been smashed with ease, revealing long red hair. He stared at the figure before him, silently stunned.
The legendary Redblood Aberration had died without a fight.
That same day, Isel forced himself to survey the nearby villages. Near the ruins, he encountered a girl with no identification.
Her blood-red eyes watched him with interest, as though she had been waiting a very long time.
.
"Why is the king of the Aberrations called Redblood?"
"Because its blood is red, just like a human's."
"Why kill Aberrations?"
"Because they slaughter villages and threaten the Holy City."
"Are you happy you killed their king?"
Misha found everything about the Holy City utterly fascinating, and sometimes asked strange questions.
Isel answered, "It was the lifelong wish of my heart."
Misha's voice was strange. She looked satisfied and expectant, her pupils dilating, tiny black specks dancing within them.
Ever since the battle with the Aberrations, Isel had been left with an eye injury. He could barely see when his surroundings were dark, which was practically a natural advantage for Misha.
She fastened a red silken cord around the silent knight. Only when her movements suddenly tightened it did he cough and ask, a beat too late,
"Wait... What is this?"
A pitch-black, inhuman monster opened its compound eyes and stared at him without blinking in the darkness.
"A collar."
