There was a little glitch in Heaven's reincarnation system. Yuan Suchen was supposed to find his lover from his previous life, but was accidentally set to reincarnate as a cat.

A little sootball that had gained a spirit.

Yuan Suchen lowered his fluffy paws and set off to find his beloved.

Yuan Shang'an, an associate professor in the history department at A University, has been troubled by two things lately.

The first is that the little black hole he brought home not only likes to rub against him constantly, but often tries to paw at his desk and computer, too. Every day, as soon as Yuan Shang'an gets home, the cat frantically lets out a long string of meows that make no sense.

Yuan Shang'an trimmed the cat's fur, gave him a bath, and tried to soothe him and improve their relationship, but the cat kept acting up as usual. He just kept making noise for no reason, and didn't seem to like this home very much.

The second is that the lover he agreed to meet again in his previous life has mysteriously disappeared in this one.

Unable to find him, Yuan Shang'an has no choice but to hold the little cat and wait.

But the more he watches the cat in his arms, the more familiar its behavior seems...

Yuan Shang'an stares at the line of text typed by the feline suspect and falls into deep thought.

After repeatedly failing his assignments, Xie Shu never expects to be given a new one: watch the most dangerous target and kill him when the opportunity arises.

The target is named Xiao Si. On the surface, he's aloof, restrained, and immaculate, but behind the scenes, he is plotting a shocking scheme to overthrow the entire dynasty.

At their first meeting, Xie Shu sees Xiao Si exchanging toasts and pleasantries with others. After thinking it over, he goes easy on him and swaps the poison for sugar.

At their next meeting, Xie Shu sees Xiao Si secretly building up his forces. After thinking it over, he goes easy on him and closes his eyes, pretending to sleep.

At their third meeting, Xie Shu sees pursuers in the woods. After thinking it over, he goes easy on him and leaves a gap for Xiao Si to escape through.

Years later, Xie Shu looks at the assembled army and the captured royal city, falls into thought, and decides to go easy on them once again, pretending he is outmatched as he joins their ranks.

Later, after the new dynasty is established, General Xiao Si pins Xie Shu, dressed in the emperor's robes, to the bed so he cannot move. At last, Xie Shu feels some regret.

He went too easy on them... far too many times.
