A Splendid Empire

She is the legitimate daughter of the Shen family of Yunyang, brilliant and ruthless, yet she carries a white moonlight in her heart: Liu Yunping, her childhood sweetheart. Gentle as jade, Liu Yunping is forced to leave for Cangwu when her family falls into ruin. As she departs, she leaves behind only a jade hairpin: "Three years."

Just as Shen Qingyi agrees to a marriage in name only to save the woman she loves, the mysterious businesswoman Chu Yingtang rides into her world. With a single glance, she sees through all Shen Qingyi's ambitions. "Your eyes don't say you want stability. They say you want power."

One is a gentle, steadfast healer; the other, an unconventional wanderer of the martial world. The three women swear an oath of brotherhood in blood. From defending a city to conquering the realm, from testing one another to entrusting each other with their lives, they shield one another from arrows and test poisons for one another. Side by side in a chaotic age, they carve out a place for women with their own hands.

Later, one ascends the throne, one becomes chancellor, and one commands the armies. Later still, they leave the realm behind and return together to their hometown of Yunyang, where they watch the sunset from the peak of Mount Cangwu for the rest of their lives.

"They say this realm belongs to men? Then we'll change the rules."

From Yunyang to Jinling, from youth to old age, they seek neither the title of consort nor empress. All they want is for the three of them to stand as one.

"It's not that I can't choose. I can't let go of either of them."

"Then don't choose."
