[Reborn/Not Siblings]
In her previous life, Shangguan Shang was brought down by a slip-up.
The one who outmaneuvered her was her seemingly noble and immaculate fiancé.
The first thing he did after using his newfound power to ascend the throne was imprison her in the palace, strip her of her martial abilities and authority, and pursue her to the bitter end.
Surrounded by wolves, with her fate all but sealed, she saw one person break through the encirclement in her final bloodstained moments. Even with his blade broken and drenched in blood, he still gathered her into his arms.
Pressed against the familiar warmth of the person who had come for her, she recalled, dazedly:
In the distant days of their youth, before she and this person had drifted apart, she had stood close beside him like this countless times, leaning against him.
Back then, she called him Older Brother.

When she opened her eyes again, Shangguan Shang had returned to her youth.
She simply couldn't swallow her anger, so she found a chance to sneak into her fiancé's residence and tamper with a few things. But just as she was preparing to leave, she had barely climbed over the wall when she ran into a figure dressed in black.
Her young older brother was covered in frost, clearly having spent half the night searching for her outside. Seeing her disheveled and sneaking over the wall of some man's courtyard, he stopped in his tracks and caught the girl as she leapt down into his arms.
Under the young man's livid gaze, Shangguan Shang felt inexplicably guilty. Resting her head on his shoulder, she meekly murmured, "Older Brother..."
Guan Suhan glanced at the residence behind them, his face expressionless, but his arms tightened around her.
"So you've learned to climb walls... What else did he teach you?"
*
Guan Suhan had known since childhood that he was a rat in the gutter, while she was an immortal flower fallen from the heavens.
Sooner or later, this sweet little girl who followed him around would return to the clouds above and draw a clear line between them.
He persuaded himself to let go. As long as she was happy, anything was fine.
But a bloody, shattered nightmare threw everything into disarray.
Only then did he learn that letting her leave would end with her dying in his arms.
He couldn't afford to wager on such an outcome. He could only hold her tight and use every means at his disposal to keep her by his side.
*
On a stormy night, Guan Suhan struggled to make his way out of the mist-shrouded land with Shangguan Shang.
They were already too late. She sat nestled in his arms, her eyes shimmering and her cheeks flushed an unnatural red. Her pale hands groped wildly at his waist, searching for the medicine he always carried.
"Older Brother, hurry and give it to me..."
Beneath the flickering crimson firelight, Guan Suhan held her halfway in his arms. He glanced at the medicine bottle lying on the ground, emotions surging in his eyes like a rising tide.
The young man was silent for a long while, then ground the bottle beneath his foot.
He took her hand and used it to undo the black jade belt at his waist. His usually cool voice was low and hoarse as he slowly bit the tip of her ear.
"There's no medicine. Use me instead."
