I Conquered the Paranormal with Fluff

(The main story is complete.) The later parts get a little messy, so read with caution.

Tales of terror are about to descend. Rumor has it that citizens will be pulled into these tales and forced to clear their challenges. Anyone who fails will be erased completely.

Sheng Ning, the owner of a pet shop, has been losing fluffy animals from her store one after another. She hires Shen, a detective who’s unreliable but cheap, to investigate. But he tells her the case is connected to the tales of terror.

What a joke. Who does he think he’s fooling?

As a firm materialist, Sheng Ning refuses to believe such an absurd rumor.

Until she and Detective Shen are dragged into an instance of a tale of terror and come face to face with a man-eating monster. That finally gets her to behave.

You’ve got to be kidding. What good is that skill going to do in a tale of terror?

Sheng Ning always thought her skill was useless, until she encountered:

A rabid dog in an abandoned school, its eyes blood-red as it tore into players.

A floppy-eared rabbit in a remote village, with sharp teeth and a mad desire to chase humans.

A black cat at a racetrack that treated humans like mice and delighted in tormenting them.

Other players: The lord of the tale of terror is an altered fluffy animal? How are we supposed to clear this instance?

Sheng Ning just shrugs. They’re fluffy animals. Tame them, tame them, tame every last one!

What do you do when a nonhuman roommate corners you on a balcony, leaving you nowhere to run? Summon a giant eagle and make a daring leap!

What do you do when villagers who’ve had their tongues cut out chase you to a dead end? Hop on a capybara and make a daring getaway!

Who cares?

Sheng Ning refuses to behave. She’s not only going to tame the lords, but overturn the rules and take every altered fluffy animal out of the instances.

But what do you do when there are too many fluffy animals?

A brilliant idea strikes Sheng Ning. The Sheng family has no place for idlers, so she immediately recruits them all and sets up a fluffy-animal delivery service, a kung fu cat gym, a tale-of-terror bakery...

The world of tales of terror is in chaos, while Sheng Ning enjoys a peaceful life as an entrepreneur.

But before long, the commercial street is shut down.

The person behind it has a face exactly like Detective Shen’s. He raises an eyebrow.

“Fancy meeting you again, Miss Sheng.”

1. Plot-driven, with a bit of an ensemble cast. The male and female leads have very little romance.

2. Rule-based horror and infinite-level progression, though the horror atmosphere is light and it leans more toward infinite-level progression. Lots of original worldbuilding, so don’t overthink it.

3. A strong heroine’s growth story. The hero is not stronger than her.

4. The instances are moderately scary.

5. Updates are irregular. Feel free to save up chapters if you’re interested.

The world order collapses, and pollution descends upon the wasteland.

Yu Li is just a wage worker who catches a ride on a delivery truck. The whole vehicle ends up straying into a polluted zone.

The good news: Yu Li makes it out alive.

The bad news: She’s the only one from the truck who does.

In the aftermath of this pollution incident, Yu Li becomes a top target for arrest across the entire Federation. She loses her job, her landlord returns her rent, and now she’s in an impossible situation.

If that’s how it is, who cares about staying in the safe zone?

Yu Li, penniless and resolute, heads outside the safe zone. She doesn’t even have time to worry about being infected by pollutants before she checks into a hotel. But what greets her is a half-man.

Half-Man: Staying at this inn costs no money, only your life!

Yu Li, who values her life: Can I still change my mind?

Half-Man closes the door: What do you think?

Yu Li has no choice but to stay. As it turns out, she not only recruits pollutants as minions, but purifies the polluted zone completely?!!

Later, hungry Yu Li walks into a beef-and-horseface noodle shop, only to discover that the owner really is a bull-headed man wielding a giant cleaver.

Bull-Headed Man: Noodles here cost no money, only your life!

Yu Li, now battle-hardened: You can take my life, but add cilantro to the noodles.

Bull-Headed Man: ???

Eventually, Yu Li accidentally purifies every polluted zone outside the safe zone and even builds all sorts of prosperous skyscrapers.

Council members: The outside world is full of danger. Only the Federation can protect you.

Oppressed citizens look at the gleaming tech towers rising outside the safe zone: This is what you call dangerous?!

Gradually, the citizens of the safe zone realize that once they leave the council’s umbrella of protection, there isn’t even any rain outside.

By then, Yu Li stands atop a skyscraper, her gaze cutting through layer upon layer of protective shields as she looks down at the bustling safe zone, teeming like an anthill.

Then her voice travels through the quantum communications network, instantly reaching every corner of the safe zone:

“Citizens, what are you waiting for? Start a revolt!”

1. Plot-driven instances. The main storyline follows the heroine as she gradually lights up the map beyond the safe zone.

2. A growth story with an absolutely strong heroine, though she will face challenges she can’t handle.

3. A little ensemble cast, plus city-building. Set in an imagined future with lots of original worldbuilding, so don’t overthink it.

4. There is a male lead, but the romance is limited.

5. There may be some changes before the story begins, but the main storyline won’t change (2025.5.26).
