Everyone says Song Yuhan is the most pampered child in the Song family.
Though she is an ordinary mortal with no spiritual root, they have piled enough treasures from heaven and earth on her to make her who she is.
She is spoiled and willful, dazzlingly beautiful. People may privately mock her as a good-for-nothing, but plenty still want to become her lover.
Her brilliance draws the desire of both the young masters of prominent clans and the most despicable members of the demon race.
The demon army advances right up to the border, and the Demon Lord declares outright that he wants to marry Song Yuhan.
So they push her forward.
Song Yuhan has never been a good person. Taking advantage of Ming Lian'an's desire for her beauty, she coaxes him with a few words into killing his own older brother and wiping out the Song family.
With the great clans hunting them down, the two of them hide in a cave in a miserable state.
Ming Lian'an is battered all over, except for his face, because he knows that the only thing Song Yuhan might like about him is that face.
Song Yuhan, meanwhile, has only gotten her skirt dirty.
"Song Yuhan, go with them. Return to Jiuzhou. With Young Master Jiang there, they won't hurt you."
As he says the name of his rival, Ming Lian'an grits his teeth.
Song Yuhan looks straight at him, then suddenly gives a soft laugh. "Ming Lian'an, weren't you the one who used to lie at my feet like a little dog, begging me to love you and never leave you?"
Before the dagger sinks into his chest, Ming Lian'an thinks Song Yuhan must love him at least a little.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have cared for him all along and stayed by his side.
Given another life, Ming Lian'an decides he won't give Song Yuhan so much as a glance.
But all she has to do is call to him twice from afar, and he comes running with his tail wagging.
He flies into an embarrassed rage. "You're treating me like a dog again!"
Song Yuhan expressionlessly points at the real little dog rolling around by her feet. Only then does he realize she wasn't calling him.
Ming Lian'an gets even angrier and shoves the cheerful little dog aside.
"You have another dog?!"
