A few things to know before reading:
1. The premise of this story is “What if the God of Steam and Machinery were a survivor from the Old Days?” This idea was written just after Lord of the Mysteries ended in 2021, and it includes a lethal dose of personal headcanons and fanon. So after Circle of Inevitability introduced more detailed lore about Steam, this version is basically an original character in disguise. The God of Steam and Machinery in this story is not Yuggus Stiano. Please be warned! Please be warned! Please be warned! Important things must be said three times.
2. This is an ensemble, plot-focused, no-romance story. It’s a long one, with a heavily modified world setting, a large number of original characters and NPCs, and a happily-ever-after ending where everyone gets together for a big feast (whether I can actually write that far is another matter).
3. This is only fanfiction based on Lord of the Mysteries. It will not include any plots or characters from Circle of Inevitability, and I’ll be using its extraordinary powers and character relationships. Please be kind: if you see settings that differ from Circle of Inevitability, feel free to yell at the author for outrageous fanon and click the X in the upper-right corner.
4. The whole story has been extensively revised. Where it differs from previous versions, this version is final.
